I'm holding out for a world class half too. Halves who would make the move do exist in the NRL - but it either takes some major 'persuasion' to make the leap, or they've been told they're not in the long term planning anymore, or they're just unhappy and need to reset. Matt Moylan going to Leigh is a prime example, and there are others - Kyle Flanagan, Luke Keary, Brayden Trindall, Brad Schneider, Chad Townsend, Jackson Hastings - who are gettable for different reasons.
Hampshire is a no from me. He's not at Wigan because he's a top-end player is he, he's there because he'd prefer to be at an SL club on tiny money than drop into the Championship. I've seen various interviews down the years where he just will not accept that he's not a Super League player. He struggles to square up a defensive line, runs his backs out of room, he's a scrappy, slappy sort of tackler and never sticks. He's fast, and he backs up, and occasionally kicks well, but we should be aiming higher than that.
Lam has made it clear he wants to go back to the NRL eventually, and in the meantime I can't see him leaving his Dad to come to Wakey.
For me, the perfect signing would be Hastings, though he seems to be back in favour at the Knights. But if we sold him the vision of Trinity being his team, part of a success story, a big fish in a small pond like his Salford days, and pay him £300k
then you never know...
