Agreed. We should be smart enough to have players pushing up to support any breaks anyway. I like Miller, hes green as but this is why hes struggled sometimes in a team that just ships him the ball and goes here, do something.

I said this when we signed him but Miller isn't fast, he's elusive. He is able to change direction and jink quickly, but he's no Dufty/Field. Great over 20 metres but will then get chased down.
Newman I think is similar. Handley does have some pace when he gets going, but I agree I think we're quite slow as a side overall.

Interesting how positive RS genuinely seemed about the director role. Almost as if it takes a load of crap off his desk he could live without, so he can focus more on the day job.
I think we have this next block of fixtures before any action will be taken on Smith, unless we have one or two dire results in there. If we finish between 4-6th in the table, which I still think we can, AND we have some real high quality new signings in the pipeline for 2025, I'm content to leave it to the new Sporting Director to make the call on Smith either way.
Can't disagree with anything Smith said in his presser today TBF.
Not seen the presser but doubt anything will happen until the new Sporting Director has been appointed. Even then, I suspect RS will not be relieved of his duties until a suitable replacement has been found unless we drop to even lower levels.
The above notwithstanding, if we lose to Castleford, it is going to be very difficult for Rohan to continue with the mounting pressure which is already on him.
Yep He sounded and looked more cheerful in the press video than for weeks and does not appear to be on the way out so would appear to have the backing of GH. Can see an issue if the new sporting director decides Smith should go and GH refuses as that would make the sporting directors position untenable if his job description includes recruitment and departures of the coaching staff and players. Will GH want a yes man?
I genuinely think the new Sporting Director would want to come in, have a good look at RS and work with him, and then make a call based on what they see, results etc over the next few months. That's what I'd do. GH shouldn't be making the decision on RSs future either way.
If we win the next 4 games on the bounce there will be some disappointed people on here. We should hopefully have Holroyd back in the next 2-3 rounds, and Fus can't be too far off either. The chances of those two both staying fit for the rest of the season are about zero mind you.

You are a generous and patient fellow, Jim, and that's why I like you. I think that's an extremely generous reading of the current situation though. Defeat to Cas tomorrow and I just don't think Rohan’s position is tenable any more. We should win, the players should respond, but I've said/ thought that a few times over the course of the season and been left with nothing but clumps of my own hair in my fists at the end of the game. I'm hoping my faith will be partially restored by tomorrow night, but at this point my faith in Rohan’s methods is at rock bottom.
