An improvement on the squad and coaching is all we can ask for at the minute. I’m expecting a couple of decent signings along with the current signings/rumours and current Brisbane and NSW assistant.

Keep hearing this but who has said they dont want to come to Hull FC because they are bottom of the League I understand its more difficult for Lancs based players to travel but Asiata is coming. You have to sell and promote the club This build us up to something better in the long term is nonsense.Fans want to be entertained and watch fast and exciting R/L by quality players not sit there season after season saying the same thing. If you continue to bargain basement shop then we will be building forever. If the investment money is available The new owner should go all in and get the new coach finding four top quality overseas players in the positions we need not this filler here and there approach The lack of pace in what we see coming in next season and what we already have is disturbing to say the least. Make four or five quota spots available, offload some of the deadwood including some of the younger players like Litten,Gardiner and Laidlaw who are destined for Championship level R/L and give Cartwright the chance to bring in his own assistant
Nobody has said that players don't want to join us. It's speculation on why we are signing/rumoured to be signing the players we are and pondering what that means rather than outright calling the club out and saying the signings aren't good enough as some are prone to do. It's offering a potential reasoning to the approach they are taking and why they might be taking it instead of making demands on them to do better/different all the time. We're never going to be privy to the full in's and out's of what the club does or is tries to do but I do feel that patience and an understanding approach is needed more than anything else right now instead of the constant barrage of criticism the club faces over it's every move.

In recent times Myler has been trying to recruit players without us even having a coach confirmed for 2025. Made it harder to attract players when they don't know who they will even be playing for. Now Cartwright has officially been appointed, and seems a very well respected coach, signing better players going forward may prove to be slightly easier. We still have to be realistic about the level we're at and the calibre of player we can attract, but I think now we have somebody in place for 2025 that conversations with players and agents will be smoother.

We also have to take into account building a squad - if the money is there are 3 players @50k a season for 1 year a better option then 3 players @40k a season for 2 years better options ? On the face with older players it’s clear 1 year deals better but for get the most out of cap the 2nd could be better if you have the money to pay off older types (ala rovers have with a few of their players) we arnt going to know until the end of the season the full signings even if we have signed players now why would the club announce everything- i just feel we wouldn’t of got Cartwright if we said that’s your fill pal - turn them into world beaters but you can’t add your own players. It’s frustrating at the moment but let’s stick with it (the players signed for me are just a bit of meat on the bones for the squad and we must have a fair bit of cap along with a few quota spaces to play with,

Hoy Brown x 2 Scott gone/going
Houghton Carlos Likely going
Then we have players who we don't know what is happening
Mitch Cator Balmforth
Signed/reportedly signed
Asiata Hardaker Holmes Borough Satae
So unless we are offloading the likes of tindal, okunbor, Pele and Sao and maybe walker, it doesn't look like there is much in the pot to me
Suppose it depends on what inflated salaries those leaving were on. Pearson said we were at cap for this season so you'd assume we're paying overs for those leaving

I’m assuming we arent actually at fully cap/ theres dispensations we can use t maximise cap.
Hoy- Moy replacing internally currently. Frees up quota and cap space for more important positions.
nu brown - Abdul in terms of cap space he will be considerably less and is a better half back. so frees up quota spot.
Jack Brown - Aydin, reckon brown has/had more potential but from what I’ve seen Adyin is more reliable, aggressive and will be cheaper on the cap next year IMO
Scott - Hardaker on more but less than scott wants/ wakey are paying. dreadful bloke better player
Houghton - TBC but Houghton has sadly had his day. Will be more on the cap. Will be a quota player.
Carlos - Asiata is probably his like for like. Will be on pitch more which says it all. 150k on cap, will likely be about the same as Carlos in all reality.
Other signings
Satae better player than most but work rate is poor. Will be a fair chunk on cap but as he wanted to come back, we might have got a reduced rate.
Holmes is in his twilight years. Won’t break that bank and adds a bit of squad depth. Better than we have and non quota
Borough won’t be on peanuts but also won’t be expensive. Gives us extra depth and hopefully we keep Balmforth giving us 4 hookers (inc M.Smith).
Then 1 quota spot free to assign without speculating on Ligi or Okunbor.
Overall Man for Man we’ll be better. If we ace our 2 last quota spots it suddenly turns us into a side battling for the 6 next year
