You can use the marquee £50k loophole but then you'd have your 3 marquee spots taken up by Abdull, Asiata and Trueman. Hell of a lot of risk there with all 3 not having great injury records, maybe a risk you have to take.
That HDM article doesn't mention anything about a fee but that doesn't mean there won't be one for you. It's a strange thing in rugby league how many times players just move freely between clubs but you never know. As for other clubs, I know that Saints were rumoured to be interested and Catalans have the option on him for next year but maybe it's the draw of coming back to his hometown that is swaying him (and the cash! )
Definitely a risk injury wise but as you say, one we probably have to take at the moment.

Seems to be some debate on this. We seem to have gone from believing we have no marquee players to Trueman suddenly been a marquee player. However, reading the rules on marquees you need to have at least one federation trained player as a marquee in order to have three marquee players overall, otherwise you are limited to two. So we've maybe registered Trueman as a federation trained marquee when previously he was just part of the normal salary cap allowing us to bring two more in (Asiata being one and Abdull the other it seems).

You can also remove players from bring a marquee signing, so if Truema was one and it was better to use on a quota player you could take him off at the end of the season.

Given his injury record and the fact he only has until end of next season on contract with us, it would be common sense to remove him from the marquee list if he is indeed one with us right now.
IF Abdul is going to be a marquee player on a minimum 2 year deal then god help us !!!
Notorious for his poor training attitude & inability to keep himself in good shape.
We had the best of him ( except for when his kicking game for KR destroyed us at MKM ) why did we let him go ? 'He likes his kebabs...... Jordan Abdul he likes his kebabs'. His best days are behind him - KR & Catalans are testimony to that - why do people think we can wave a majic wand, and transform him, all the evidence is we take average players & make them worse.
Mentoring ?? Come on - which of our truly promising youngsters have we signed up long term, Davy Litten & Denive Balmforth were the big hopes for this year, neither can break into the team which is about to set new records for losing.
Could accept JA as a squad player who can play 13 but really ? He will be nowhere near marquee money now & he has NOT pushed on, if AP still signing the cheques he hasn't learned the errors of the last two seasons.

He's not gonna take a pay cut so that would mean his £175k (min) going in full on the cap instead of £100k as now...and then shell out for another marquee? Lose/lose.
I don't think Adam has come into possession of a money printing machine and gambling others money for no end result generally ends in tears.
Pearson and Myler have got this all wrong from the get go.
