Hasn't been a head coach since 2014. Been around a bit as an assistant at the cowboys and Manly. He's currently at Brisbane.

Think it would be a good appointment, head coach for about 7 years at Gold coast and the only coach to get them into the top 4 (twice), was assistant when Cowboys won the GF and has been part of the Brisbane revival.

I swear they just pull names out of a hat. Don't know much about him so googled him. Assistant at the Broncos at the moment and previously been assistant at the Cowboys and Sea Eagles and was head coach at the Titans for seven years. Looks like he's consistently employed and the Manly players were backing him back in 2018 to take over as head coach. Sounds like he's got plenty of experience. Biggest question is probably whether he fancies another crack at a head coach job.

That John Davidson has plucked about 10 names out of thin air, all of which behind a paywall, terrible journalist who'll claim it as an 'exclusive' if/when one of them is eventually right.

I've calmed down a bit since Sunday... I think!
I think I'm still leaning towards us getting a coach in this season rather than next season. We saw on Sunday that nothing has changed really since Grix took interim charge. Not his fault because it's the hand he's been dealt with but they've shown that they are capable of throwing in the towel under anyone once again. As daft is it sounds, that might as well be the new coach because it at least gives him chance to visually assess these players now. A big clear out is obviously needed but realistically that's going to take time. We need the coach to have a say on who he thinks he can work with and who the deadwood is. I'm not saying that the likes of Myler and Grix can't help assess this but I really want the new coach to be part of that clear out process and not him having to wait until pre-season to start his own assessments.
On the other hand, part of me thinks that it might be better for the new coach not to be tainted in any way by this season. Just treat next year as a fresh start. But at least get the coach named soon. I think it's important that they are installed in time to have a say in recruiting. I also think having an announcement will be good for the club in promoting itself to potential signings by letting them know who they will be playing under.

I agree. However it's gone very quiet on the coaching front. I do feel we need someone in now. But who is going to come right now? I'm hearing nothing from anywhere!
