In his press conference, Lam has pretty much said nothing will be done possibly for months. I'm not convinced that he's interested in renewing to be honest.
Nature of the beast I’m afraid with players , managers and club owners.
You will never get a lifetime commital, and we shouldn’t expect one. Give them a contract and honour it. Once talks start , if they show no signs of signing then move on.
Don’t want Lam to leave but he can’t on one hand say 5 year project and on the other , stall on signing an extension.
If Lam doesn’t sign, and if I was Derek I’d ask Dawsons to make the biggest humble pie and ship it off to Worsley , to Rowley, and ask him come home.
I don't know what all the fuss is about now. DB said at the Cas match that we will have a top class coach and 3 marquee players and spend our full salary cap. Of the 20 off contract there are only a few I hope we keep and we will have more quota spots to fill. So we're going to have a very good squad. Plus, we'll still be in SL as all they will do is swap London for Wakey. That sounds bl00dy good to me. Let's get on with improving and hopefully beating Salford on Friday.
It's not so much a fuss, but if we're going to have a top level coach as Beaumont says, and it isn't going to be Adrian Lam, the sooner the club can start to identify that person the better.
Lam says that the uncertainty won't affect the players, or negotiations with players, but I struggle to think that could be true to be honest.
Most importantly I hope ALam stays for another 2-3 seasons after this. Longer even better but I think Aus beckons in his future. As difficult as the current situation of uncertainty with him and players is, I see it as a part of our evolution I’m afraid. We will retain some, say thanks to others, and lose some we wanted to keep but on our terms. As we continue to build the club and playing staff level, we will move away from the numerous ins and outs each season to a few key moves here and there. I will keep the faith as always and be happy in the news that we will fill our marquee spots. I believe Derek values Lammy highly and that he will sign.
First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can. “Up The Comics !”
I would think when we are trying to extend players contracts, one question would be who will the coach be. I think privately Lammy has told them we’re he is most likely to be and sell the five year plan we are half way through.
Now Lachlan being linked with a return to nrl from next year. Three clubs, Bulldogs, Titans and his old club the Roosters. I’m sure he is under contract for another two years, so a big transfer fee would be wanted surely.
