While he would struggle to be worse than the dross on show last week, need to keep a bit of perspective - while I was very sorry to see him leave - to paraphrase Monty Python - he's not the Messiah, he's a 34 year old, decent ex rugby league player who hasn't played league for over 2 years. Normally you'd expect him to he given a few weeks to get up to speed before playing again - because of our situation I'd expect him to be on the bench on Sunday - although sooner they can get him playing in the centre the better.
Can't quote the post above by Ilkley Fax for some reason but its exactly this. Kind of said on the other thread it shows how far we have fallen when the signing of Barber, a player who looked to have retired at just the right time as his form was dropping off, has created a furrow of excitment amongst the fanbase.
Needs must though like others have said and with us once again been unable to name a 20 man squad and once again including players who have no chance of playing, something needed to be done. Do I see the signing having much impact, no not really, but it avoids us having the embarassment of not been able to field the full 17/18 players in a game.
