Think Mcdermott would be too like Smith, we need a coach to bring the team together, don't think he is that person.
Honestly rather have Horne. Think we will go for Briers if he turns us down I think we will try for Mcguire.Just have a feeling we are after a young British coach

Personally I feel this job, is too big and has too many pitfalls for an inexperienced Manager. We've been here before with Agar,Gentle, Radford and Hodgson. This squad needs to be physically fitter and stronger , and they need clarity from the Manager on defensive and offensive structure. Unfortunately Tony Smith was reluctant or unable on both of these points. If the guy appointed is inexperienced, I hope I am proved wrong.

I'm not against brining in an assistant, but they need to be from a good system. I'd feel really un easy about brining as assistant from one basketcase club to another.
Not sure what McGuire has done to prove himself as a top assistant. Look at how Briers transformed Wigans and Brisbanes attack, from the outside it doesn't look like McGuire has had the same impact at Rovers or Cas. Plus i think his links to Rovers and Leeds would mean fans may turn on him quicker as he's not seen as "one of us".

For me, Rowley wS the only viable UK based option. Now we need to go for an overseas experienced assistant who has some fresh ideas and a new perspective on things. Any of the other names mentioned would be a big disappointment and a massive risk for me

Not suprised Mcguire turned down Cas, he is a smart bloke and saw the squad and resources. Think he'd take the right job, think he would have took the Rovers job if offered it.
Thought he did well at Rovers and was a big part in turning them around.
Saying that don't think he was what we need just have a feeling he could be an option.
