Sounds like the intensity in training reflected Smith's laid back persona, also that Grix potentially had little input into what went on previously if it's a "refreshing" change under him?

Think that also reflects some of the things I'd heard re training being very relaxed affairs rather than having to work hard everyday and more akin to a holiday camp. It's also probably one of the major factors in why we have never looked ready when taking to the field and also our poor fitness.
Hopefully Grix will not just have them training hard every day but also hold them accountable both individually and as a group.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Had heard talks took place over the the weekend, ball is now in Rowley's court whether to accept or decline.

Would want him immediately though, not from next season.

How can he coach Salford but be involved with recruitment for us.

He's obviously got suicidal tendencies.

I don't even expect him to walk out on his existing contract.
I'd be very happy if we got him, I just don't think we will. Doing a good job with Salford and I can imagine he'd like to keep that going and see where he can get with them.
More than happy to be proved wrong.

I guess the same way that many Coaches are when they leave a club before the end of their contracts, if they remain in place. If he does agree to come to Hull next season that then leaves Salford with a decision to make, do they keep him on to see out the season or relieve him of his post. Either way whilst he'll be professional and continue coaching Salford
its unlikely that he'll have any further input in to signings/recruitment plans for Salford with immediate effect.

You would imagine that if Rowley has indeed been approached and agrees to join us at the end of this season then Salford will likely want to have some form of compensation arrangement to then let him go asap.

Would be a great capture for us..

Agree I don't think Rowley would walk out mid season even if he agreed to take on the Head Coach role with us, but that maybe a decision that is made for him if he does indeed ask Salford if he can leave at the end of the season.

I think the issue for Salford is the financial position and the fire sales they seem to have to do every season to survive. Think that always going to be an issue for Salford in terms of Coaches.
It could well be the pull of having the opportunity to go to a club that's having some serious investment that enough or simply the challenge to turn around a very sick dog or both.

I would say that was the main reason for Watson heading the Huddersfield as he couldn't achieve anything more at Salford without investment to build.
