Our usual announcement time is 6pm but Myler was announced early in the day. I wonder if this keeps the 6pm slot free for some recruitment news. Probably not, but never know!

Yes i forgot about that but the point still stands do you go for a well known well respected ex player like Gaz Ellis or Ritchie Myler because of the pot of cash he comes with. For Pearson he will follow the cash given his position but from a club point of view and the importance of the position it surely has to be someone in the mold of Gaz Ellis

At the moment the club need money. It's that simple. Without money we can't even afford to bring on a DOR. Could have the best DOR in the game (which nobody probably knows who that actually is) at the club but if they've got no money to work with then they're not going to make an impact anyway. We'll I say that, but whoever is working at Salford seems to be doing well. Seeing on Twitter that Myler apparently has a degree in Sports Management from Leeds University? Just give the guy a chance.

People forgetting we did the experienced route with McRae too under Pearson that wasn't the most successful tenure - some very questionable signings during that period

Was just about to post the same, we could hire the most experienced Director in the game but if there's no money to sign anyone good what would be the point?
I also think half the 'skill' in the role is having contact numbers in the phone and as a very recent player you'd hope Myler has a few.
I'm also not seeing many suggestions of better plans from those who are criticising. We can't just stumble along on a low budget, the next risk is crowds drop then literally it's a stadium with 3.5 years lease left keeping us in SL on the IMG points

Who though?
Ellis didn't enjoy the job and I don't recall a string of star British players or top Aussies queuing up to join us at that time.
Maybe just give Myler a chance as much as it goes against your instincts.

well that was a surprise wasn't it thanks to Dan Tomlinson breaking the news 48 hours ago no one was caught out by it and the appointment is now official and although many may have reservations it is done and now we will all get behind our new Director of Rugby and wish him well and let him know we support him.
I believe that the club are a little peeved about Dans actions but he's a fan and he will always do the digging and let us have the news good or back as soon as he does and long may that continue. Good Luck Richie part of me thinks that you might need it.
