Well he's gone. All those baying for his blood have gotten it. Dare say some of the players are happy to. . Where do we go from here? All we seem to do is change the coach and lurch on. Interesting few days coming up

Sadly I think it was a decision that had to made as something was clearly wrong in the on field side of the club. For me there was little evidence of any input by Smith in to the identity of the team. You only have to look and there is little or no structure at all in anything we do and even the most basic aspects are worse than they’ve ever been.

Need a tough no nonsense coach who drills the players in full time training as opposed to what was rumoured to be the part time hours.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Actually suprised by this, real mixed feelings, I'd be amazed if it wasn't connected with the Hoy situation.

Maybe not consulting Clark and Pearson or Hoy was a popular member of the squad, seems too much of a coincidence.

Worry who is next, need some investment desperately.

Not so sure on that. There wasn't exactly an uprising in the stands last Saturday. On the final hooter there seemed to be a collective shrug of the shoulder and we all filed quietly back out and headed home. We seem to have reached a stage where supporters were fully expecting another hammering and simply accepted it as a pre-ordained result. There appeared to be little disquiet within the ground just an acceptance of this is what we have become.

Forums, such as this one, tend to be slightly skewed in comparison to the wider fanbase who tend to have a somewhat more ambivalent attitude to what is going on at club. The people who post on here generally have heightened passions in their opinions on the club. The more general fan tends not to be quite as worked up about things as we all do on here!!

If there is an over-riding feeling surrounding the club right now, it's one of overwhelming apathy, the like of which I don't think I have ever experienced in my time supporting the club (mid-70s). It don't recall the fanbase being this apathetic even in the 90s during the ill-fated David Lloyd era. Like I said, there seems to be a stunned acceptance of how bad we are rather than any kind of fan insurrection!!

I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar.

Shocked. Honestly thought Pearson was going to stick with him.

For a coach of Tony’s experience and success he should have made us better, or at least started showing some signs. I don’t care who the players are, a coach is there to improve the team. We are now worse.

Glad Gene’s gone, too.

Need someone who doesn’t take any poop, can handle pressure and motivates the team.

Massive, massive appointment this is. Happy to let Grix and Cummins have it for the rest of the season.

To be fair most of the fans had already left well before the end!

Some of us couldn't even be bothered to attend.

It was the right choice ultimately as the fanbase was going to be severely damaged as a result of him staying and the stats and hammerings don't lie.
The players now need to take a long hard look at themselves and realise their part in our demise and the damage and upset they have caused to the fans.

hope the restructuring that Peason has mentioned includes a new CEO with a knowledge of rugby league and players valuations, Clarke must go too as he has made mistake after mistake rewarding players with silly contracts!
