On the contrary. Very important. Many hailed the video ref at every game as a silver bullet but what do we have? Inconsistency continues to reign, both within and across games. To refer or not refer? Then the guesswork kicks in. I have a try. Inconclusive video evidence leading to the refs guesswork being confirmed. An utter shambles of a system. Use it to its full extent or get rid and accept mistakes will be made. But when the technology is available and either not used or bound by some nonsensical prior guesswork, it's yet another facet that makes the game look amateurish.

So amateurish that football has gone down same road. I’d ditch it tomorrow and just let the refs, ref. But just look at the grief the ref already gets. It’s a no win situation with the modern fan……

The application of it, with the "I have a try" guesswork is amateurish. Haven't a clue how it works in football. As I say, either use it properly (which in reality means sparingly for glaring errors or where the ref is genuinely unsighted) or ditch it, yes.

For me, they need to do away with the guesswork of try / no try when the ref is basically sometimes just guessing.
Why cant we go down the route of conferring with the touchies / in goal refs then using the RU TMO version of - is there any reason I cannot give this try?

The problem here is that that leads to, or the perception of, the video ref looking for a reason not to award it. Unless it's only to look at glaring errors, but as we have seen, that soon turns into scrutinising the minutiae of the play.

There was nothing wrong with how the VR was used, but they insisted on following the NRL and bringing in the ref's call. It's ridiculous and should be binned.

Agree with that, bizarre when the ref call’s out I have a try. Then refers it to the video official. If in doubt refer to the video without any advice.
