So Mik and McDonnell went at them (both dropped the ball though). Lisone did too but again, errors.

Holroyd did too but went off concussed; that’s hardly his or RSs fault.

We were missing Sangare for mass. It’s clear our pack struggles when we’re missing any of the big bodies; and we don’t have depth there.

So I don’t see us being coached not to be direct: I do see us lacking the players to enable us to win the middle. This is where I come around to agree with some criticism of RS; I think he’s got the composition of the side wrong. Too many small forwards and too many slow players.

I don’t know how involved GH is on the commercial side of things but if we’re not competitive on salaries for players - we seem to get beaten time and again to signatures. Is that down to RS or GH? Don’t know.

The harsh facts are we have lost half of our games. Have the worst points for and against in the top eight teams. Not forgetting giants still have to play yet still have a superior points difference. This season so far is turning out to be a disaster, my personal opinion is the team is deeply flawed. It’s not impossible to turn the situation around ,but looking at the team and coach it looks highly unlikely ,if not impossible. Definitely have to win the next three games ,shouldn’t be that difficult looking at our opponents. Lose one of those we will have a mountain to climb.

Interesting to see we spend nearly half a mill less on salaries than Wigan.

“Ah look, training’s overrated for some of these dudes” (Rohan Smith February 2024)

Unfortunately you appear to have it the wrong way round Rohan. This group of players look totally lost, and as bad as some of them are, they would surely Improve with some kind of structure to the team and a bit more belief in what they are doing. There were rumours of different factions in the camp last season and a lack of commitment to one another. I’m beginning to wonder whether there’s a pervading sense of disunity stemming from above, and maybe we need a coach that not just “coaches” but also gels the players as a group.

Sky did a piece on it last night. Wigan top with £3.1m Leeds were joint 3rd/4th with a host of other teams spending 2.7m.

Not sure how accurate the numbers are but a) we should be competitive with all the sides spending the same amount and b) why aren’t we spending the most as we try to re-establish the side?

KaeruJim wrote:Bentley is a tigerish defender but he would have got smashed last night. The guy is just too small. Wire were gang tackling and pushing back much bigger lads than Bentley. McDonnell was probably our best last night and they sent a lot of traffic down his side.

In any case it isn’t RSs call that Bentley wasn’t in the side.

Looks like we’re going to get Fus back next game but lose Ash.

Wire really played at us, it’s alright saying they were ordinary but Williams is class and their pack is big and direct. Don’t think they made many mistakes and they just ground us out.

Jim our forwards on paper was our first choice pack minus Bentley who you would not start. Warrington had 2 starting props less than 16 stone and 3 first choice ones missing yet completely dominated us up front. A number of games this year smaller packs than ours have bullied us.Agree Fitzgibbon is quality but either the players are no where near good enough or the way we are set up to play by the coach is not good enough. Probably a bit of both to be honest! We were also dominated first half up front by Cas last week and pretty much every game this year.
Attack wise we actually looked better with Myler in the team in the opposition 25 as at least we created opportunities when he came into the line!
Millar could be a great signing but he needs coached and given clear direction on his role in attack. The phrase off the cuff or play whats in front of you are just excuses for we are poorly coached and have no structure or plays!
Short drop outs that just increase pressure on our line surely thats a coaching instruction.
Either Smith needs to address that or we need an attack coach who understands how to put this in place. I hate criticising players and coaches but we are seeing the same issues every week.

Its about mindset and Wire had a Sam Burgess mindset last night and the question is does our mindset mirror our coaches!
