Frankly I think he needs to swallow his pride and admit that the whole structure is just wrong. We simply cannot give away field position as though it doesn't matter. It does matter for every other pro team in the world. You can lose the battle, but you can at least make a fight of it. It genuinely looks like the aim is to let the opposition make huge yardage and then not even try to do the same.
That bench screams that the coach really doesn't seem to value big forwards. Again, he needs to have a rethink on this, stop messing about with backs and get into a proper forward rotation with as much size and athleticism as he can find. Seriously, how much worse would TNW and Ruan have been against Wire? At least they would have got more experience. Sadly I expect the main change next game will be to bring back Donaldson.

At last people are realising Smith is incompetent
Everyone sat near me last night was saying if this is it then next season they won’t buy a season ticket and will just watch games at home
I said Smith was rubbish a year ago and all I got was “it’s a 30 year project, he needs time”.
“One loss doesn’t define our season” (after every loss, every wee).
He’s crap. The rugbys crap. No one really improves under him. The run in 2022 is the exception. Why defer to a small sample size over the bigger one when he’s had more time and signings?
Everybody criticised Agar but are we any better under Smith ? As others have mentioned the only tactics appear to be a lobbed kick to the wing, interceptions, Newman to produce some magic or Handley go the full length of the pitch, who we badly missed when he went off injured. Who would replace Smith though, as non of the current top 5 teams coaches would want to come and no chance of a proven experienced Aussie.

Gary needs to be sounding out replacements and seeing when they can start. We need an experienced coach, someone who can put structure into the playing side of the club, we’ve seen what a kid with an iPad can do, let’s get someone who understands how the game is played not some theoretical how it should be played chancer. He needs to be replaced by the best available coach, its the one area where there is no salary cap.
It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

I would agree with all the above - the tragedy is no decent coach especially from the NRL will come to Leeds. Compare and contrast the quality of coaches at Saints compared to Leeds. Holbrook and Wolfe were barely known outside of the inner sanctum of the NRL. Yet Saints managed to spot them and recruit them. Leeds simply don't possess that skill level in spotting this talent.
I have asked this before why are we not able to bring top coaches through the system like Wellens or Peat or Wane. The development at Leeds of both players and coaches is woeful.
