Davies outstanding tonight thought he kept Widdop quiet and run his blood to water, Great selection by O'Carroll. Thought Smith had a cracking game as well as did the rest of the team.

Such a lot to digest from that game. First half discipline was awful and we had a lot of defending to do as a result. Second half was way better only one penalty and one 6 again I think.
Makeshift halfbacks and a lot of players on debut so a bit disjointed in attack but nonetheless some great performances. Thought Souter, Davies and Doro had really good games. Smith had his best game for us. Fulton showed some promising signs. Of the loan lads Wood was the pick, a real handful. When McGowan gets on a decent surface he'll do some damage, he lost his footing twice when making breaks on the Odsal potato field.
Thought Fax lacked much punch in the middle and cutting edge. Like us they had players out but a smaller squad and it showed.

I thought it was a committed performance. Not the well oiled machine, as you’d expect with that many debutants and players out, but everyone worked hard.
I just can’t believe we won against what is a far better team and club overall than us. Plus we are about to go bust (despite making a profit last year and new investors coming on board).
John Davies a stand off, who would have thought it.
Doro was/is an animal. Souter is class. When the season finally gets some consistency he's just going to get better and better. Dan Smith had his best game for us. Fulton looks a find, think he'll destroy championship when ground firms up.
One thing I noticed, was when we were setting up to attack their line, was how deep our attacking line was. Our winger was on the 40m line!
Still need to work on our discipline. Some frustrating 6 agains on the last tackle was the only reason Fax got in our half. When we tidied that up we looked a level above despite all our injuries.
Was it McGowan with the try saver in the second half? Thought that was the game breaker. We looked comfortable at that point, but it would have been a sucker punch against the run of play, suddenly Fax look confident and we're clinging onto the lead. Massive play!

It was McGowan and Souter that got back to make that try saver.
I don't know what EOC said at half time but it did the trick in terms of the poor discipline. In the first half we gave Fax tons of possession and field position with heaps of penalties and six agains, not to mention our mistakes. We looked a much better outfit in the second half.
Fax seemed to run out of steam and only seemed up for it when Doro was out there. Not sure why they had Keyes on the bench at all. Finn was given a coaching lesson.
