If, as expected, we take another hammering on Friday (especially if we are REALLY hammered) and Smith is still in the hot-seat for the Huddersfield game next week, then we will have to assume that he really is going nowhere and will remain in charge until the end of the year, at the very least.
If he isn't removed from post after three consecutive fifty-plus point defeats, then it's difficult to see what would make Pearson pull the plug. If he's not going to get rid of him this weekend, then why next? What difference would another catastrophic loss make to the overall balance sheet.
Don't forget Pearson stood by Radford even on the back of a 11/12 game losing streak.
QuoteComeOnYouUll="ComeOnYouUll"I guess it was inevitable given the state we are in even thiugh it's not all Smith's fault - far from it. I'm surprised at the timing though.
I was really pleased when he was appointed - a vastly experienced head coach with a track record. Just hasn't worked out.
A penny for Gareth Ellis' thoughts today.'"
Ellis could/would have been our interim with Cummins…
Thank god he's gone. I never liked him and never wanted him at my club.
No surprise he's failed. I have noticed where this myth of him being a top coach comes from. His coaching career:
Huddersfield.- got them relegated then used days mo eyes t9 get them promoted again
Leeds - got out thoght by John Kear in the CC final, won a lot less thN the clearly useless Brian mcdermott. My granny could have coached that group to a grand final win
GB/England - failure and much worse than macnamara
Warr8ngton - couldn't win the gF despite all of the money and resources at his disposal
Rovers - nearly got them relegated in his first season
Us - makes radford look like a coaching genius
We've been abysmal for most of his tenure. It looks like the players only see each other on match days.
With a limited playing group we need to be super fit and defensively sound. We're neither and he has rightly paid the price
