He was fit enough to play two stints off the bench four weeks ago at Warrington and did reasonably well. People keep saying its probably fitness which seems to me to be nonsense. It has to be either Smith doesnt like him or doesnt rate him. Fans are not daft and can see Smith has his favourites and likes to be surrounded by yes men who he can trust rather than be questioned. He has run out of ideas, shows no passion and just rambles on in his interviews saying the same thing week after week. This building a culture is simply an excuse to mask his failure.

There could be a number of reasons:
The oft repeated trope that "Smith doesn't rate him". This is depsite him getting a new contract at the end of last season and I believe the captaincy of the reserves.
Smith may believe he needs to work on his weight and/or fitness.
He's considered fourth choice hooker.
He might have already agreed to join another club.
Personally I've only seen him play when he's played for the first team. I think he's done OK although one game was against Toulouse. I'd like to see him get another chance, I'm sure that time will come. Hopefully he's as patient on that front as I am.

Despite the expert insights displayed on here, there have to be solid reasons certain players are not getting picked, and those reasons do not have to be explained to anyone other than the players.
This is what you said, we can't suggest any teams or selections as we don't see them training.
That's what the forum is, I see your point about repeating the same thing, but does that mean everything time Smith names a 21 man squad, we can't mention that Balmforths isn't in it?

Not really sure what the big deal is.
At the risk of repeating myself, there are obviously reasons he isn’t being selected. We are not entitled to be informed of those reasons. I tend to be a reader and not a poster on here, and it gets boring reading the same whinges over and over. I guess that’s life.

As an almost life long fan and a considerable amount money invested in watching my team, I think we do deserve explanations as to why some players aren’t getting picked when players that do, are obviously playing injured and exacerbating there problems. Posters are crying out for the club to communicate with us fans and you’re advocating them license to be Secret Squirrel.
