Whoever keeps smashing mirrors and walking under ladders can you please stop it now. This bad luck continues with Okoro breaking his jaw and Gaskell and Taufua also sustaining injuries. I’ve never known a start to a season where we’ve picked up so many injuries. I’m counting 10/11 first team players now sidelined through injury.
Our opening game was always going to be a challenging encounter against a full time outfit with arguably a better squad than they had in Super League last season. Wakefield hands down were the better team. This game was a testament to the unpredictability of the sport, as we found ourselves having to plug more gaps as more players sustained injuries. My biggest concern as these injuries continue to mount is the disruption this is causing to the cohesion on the field.
Despite facing a myriad of injuries, the Bulls exhibited commendable determination and grit throughout the game. We could have rolled over and conceded 50/60/70 points and let in some sloppy tries before half time and towards the back end of the game.
Looking ahead to Halifax you would hope we could have Taufua, Johnson and Scurr (hopefully) returning to the team. What is the issue with Gaskell?

Those 2 loan lads put a good shift in I must say. A lot more minutes than they would have expected. Looked like hamstring with Gaskell. So pick a number for that one.

There is enough quality in that side to go on a run at some point. But can they grind out a few results whilst we are low on bodies?
You can't imagine Gaskell will be fit for Fax and that a big concern as Widnes coped very easily against us playing with Lilley and Jowitt. Missing some of big forwards as well, it is going to need to be a big effort.

I thought The Bulls players put in a great effort last night and would have won many a game with that sort of spirit, endeavour and commitment. Injuries do cause disruption so without them you no doubt would have been a little closer.
The event, opening night was brilliant imo, both sets of fans contributing greatly to a proper Rugby League atmosphere! Enjoyed the new look Belle Vue, fireworks and presentation Trinity right now remind me a little of the Bulls back at the beginning of Superleague, there’s huge optimism, fans and stadium are buzzing and more quality is promised in the coming years

After that game I'm not too downcast, sure we've plenty of injuries and got a few more, almost an entire pack of forwards absent including our best forward and back from last season.
Despite all that they never gave up. It will be a difficult period coming up but when we get players back we'll be a different proposition.

Davies will be back (one-match ban). No game next week, so we should have Taufua and Johnson. No idea when the two Australians are going to be able to play, as I assume visas are the hold up.

How did Flanagan get on? Listening to the commentary it sounded like he kept trying to dive over from dummy half but failed on each occasion. It’s rather predictable and against stronger opposition rarely seems to pay off.
