Il break it down as i know theres a portion of our fans who believe we arnt as skint as Pearson makes out. Were making alot in corperate income, we have huge merchandise sales, we have healthy pass sales, apparntly year on year we have record aponsership deals.

We have the stadium lease and have had the covid loan, apparntly being 500k under the cap pays the covid loan off this season are the noises around the club

With the covid loan being paid off, and record sponsers and all the things ive listed, what would stop us signing a marquee or two NEXT season?

Marquess dont have to be state of origin players just for the record.

Il hazard this will be like playing chess with a pidgeon so i probably wont reply further.

It’s the way you’re making out that if pearson walks away we’ll have a brand new flush with cash owner waiting in the wings. No one is interested in a club with limited assets. Look at the recent marquees/ big Aussie signings we’ve had: Reynolds, Fonua, Evans and even Clifford due to longevity. Not one of them signings has worked yet you want to stick to the same approach and throw money at quota players.

The NRL salary cap is over 9 million so we can’t compete signing top quota players. Times have changed, we need to focus on youth and domestic signing players.

We don’t know Hull Fc’s finances and whilst we probably will be in a better position next season, but we still won’t be flush with cash like Leeds, Warrington, & Wigan

Find it extremely funny you’re quick to question people’s IQ’s when you’re the one shouting for a quick easy fix that has failed year in year.

Really?

I’d say we are right up there in terms of loyalty etc given the dross we have been served up in the last 5 or so years.
If players can’t handle a few hurty words coming from the stands, then maybe professional sport isn’t for them.

If you think we’re a decent fan base you need to give your head a wobble, we’re entitled without the success to back it up.

This isn’t a dig at the people on this forum, it’s the amount of arm chair fans on social media.

Amount of Die hards I know who don’t go anymore because we lose

Spot on. We also have to accept that we're not an attractive proposition either in terms of potential success or geography. Unfortunately if we go in for a player and he gets another offer from Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Leeds, Huddersfield, Catalans we will probably lose out. You could even throw Leigh and Salford into that list.

Your posts funny and abit low IQ for the reason ive not once mentioned Pearson out. If your going to try and be pedantic dont put words in peoples mouths to justify your original reply.

Clifford was a success and possibly a tony smith signing.
Who signed Evans, Reynolds and Fonua? Again itd abit of a flawed comment as i dont think our current coach identified those players yet your using them as a bargaining chip, its a very generalised way of arguing.

A marquee signing doesnt have to be an origin player as you stated or a "top quota player" whatever that means as its a very loose statement. Clifford isnt state of origin or a top nrl player, but would of been a top super league half, would it of been beyond the realms of possibilities offering him marquee money next season?

Has the penny dropped regarding what depicts a marquee player yet? Its all about the wage paid, there are alot of players out there who we can pay marquee type money to attract and will be what you d class as top end super league players even though they are probably reserve grade or lower end nrl players.

Weve attracted a current kiwi international so its not impossible there are players out there who d take up the opportunity, no its not a quick fix as you put it, but to compete like we all want its something we need to do.

And as for being flush with cash, 500k under cap could this season could well be 2 marquees next season with no covid loan

To be honest I misread your first post which said “cash out Pearson” which I took as you telling him to cash out of the club. As I think most would as cash out means to withdraw your money of funding.

And your argument of letting sao go means more money blown paying players off again. You can name all these financial facts you know, it doesn’t make them facts. 500k under the cap, comments removed are all Facebook rumours we have no clue about.

If we’re looking at Tony Smiths big signings, hes had a fair few big name flops: Takairangi, Korbin Simms, Vete, Coot (injuries).

Signing big name players is a lottery and the clubs who have the most successful quota players end up promoting them from within. And as for signing within the SL market for a good marquee player. Yeah I agreee with you, that would be good if there was a single marquee quality player off contract.

I just get feeling you want to try to assert your superior intellect to validate yourself. You continue knowing more about the clubs finances than they do and suggest we make marquee signings without suggesting possible options.

If you made realistic suggestions along side your statements, I’d probably take your comments more serious.

Merely responding to your original mocking reply.

Not really fussed about you taking my comments more seriously. Said my bit, stand by it, marquee spends needed next season. Have a good day.

I can see both sides, not even convinced we need marquee players, just need to get better value from overseas players. Got to avoid the likes of Reynolds and Evans.

If you swapped Hoy, Carlos and Okunbor for Laifai, Lam amd Fitzgibbon, how much stronger would we be.

All players who probably weren't signed as marquee players.

Think that’s pretty fair, one think you can say is everyone here loves FC and wants the best the club. Fans like us are the life of the club.

Whilst all 3 of the players would 100% improve our clubs I do think people are being quick to Judge Okunbor. Not been great by any stretch but people questioning his work-rate. Over 40 tackles against Catalan and an avrg gain of 8.

Sometimes it takes time for players from overseas to bed in. Hopefully we’ll see week on week improvements as definitely getting more cap value from Staveley.

Ligi another quota player who has been frustrating me a bit and few fans getting pitch forks out. He’s definitely trying far too hard and coming up with dumb plays but his workload has been massive and I wonder if he would force it as much in a dominant side.

Not giving up on Okunbor yet, works hard in defence, but we definitely need more in attack from him.

Didn't get to see the game on Saturday due to been away but it seems people believe Ock played slightly better.
My issue with him in attack is that I don't think he really goes looking for the ball. If it comes to him, then he'll run it in. And despite his lazy running style he will make good metres. But he doesn't look to put his hand up for a carry very often. We don't seem to use his size enough. Either with giving him crash balls on the opposition line and letting him power straight over a half back, or even kicking on the last to him. He's going to be above pretty much anybody he's challenging against for the ball. Tried it first set against London and he nearly pulled it in for a try. Maybe he just doesn't call for the ball though.
