At least you have admitted you are a big Smith fan, I am assuming we have spent up to the salary cap limit as per Saints Wigan and Warrington. So if we don’t finish in the top four and Saints and Wigan are in the top four that to me is a failure. Undoubtedly smith is a decent bloke as per Sinfield late of this parish. Unfortunately being nice doesn’t translate onto the pitch and winning games. Hence the English rugby union management giving Sinfield the push. He now is the most highly paid water carrier in the world. If I recall last season when Smith was under pressure you claimed he was having to get rid of deadwood. This is now is Smiths team , personally I don’t think a top four finish is asking too much. You may note I am not even asking him to win any silverware .
I don’t particularly disagree with you on the results aspect this year.
The reason i like Smith is because he’s got a different approach (I understand that’s why dome dislike his coaching style)
I like people that challenge convention otherwise things just stay the same.
Apparently Matty Peet has a similar way of coaching, taking a lot from other sports and other forms of management. It’s probably down to them being career coaches not ex players .
As you’ve rightly said though it’s results that ultimately count.
