Awesome start to the half from Wakey, not. Both teams are playing like the balls a bar of soap. Wakefield need to pull their fingers out here.
Atoni finally finishes a move-off in their 10 meters for a change. We seemed to have tried to barge our way over every time we've got down there this second half instead of going for a kick, which has been strange from us from what I've seen so far this season. There must have been about 4 or 5 times Barrow has started from nearly their line after we've not finished our sets off in their 20 properly.

This performance has generally looked like one of a team that's played a few too many easy games, although the weather hasn't helped for good RL, still not to our usual standard. As Powell said in the week we probably could have done without that many and a couple more against opposition in our league to get us more ready for the season. Anyway things to work on and we'll have got more out of this game, although it was all a bit subdued at times and lacked a bit of intensity IMO, than a walk over, onwards and upwards.

Barrow never gave up and their kicking game both from restarts and in play was superior to ours I thought. One or two of our guys really need to up their game for next week.
Little wake up call. I thought Barrow were the better team in tbe second half but I don't think we were ever under threat of losing the game. Play like that and win 30-12 - I'll take that but now that's out or our system we need to step up big time for next week and I'm sure we will.
Watching the highlights, on our third try by Griffin someone said it was off a flukey bounce, tbh I think their winger should have dealt with it better and attempted to smother it or at least tried to trap so it didn't go anywhere, in this case straight back up in the air for Griffin to snatch it and score.
Like others have mentioned their kicking game, especially in the 2nd half kept them fairly close with good long kicks to get out of their half and their use of the short kick-off which was well used, but we should have dealt with it better once they used it once. We tended to go for the powerplay in their 20-meter zone numerous times for some reason.
I thought some of the penalties, especially at the PTB are getting a bit silly and pedantic, ruining the flow of the game and the spectacle as a whole for the punters. So many that got called I couldn't see a thing wrong, like if it looked close he called it. it just made a game that was being played under poor conditions and players were knocking on etc even more stop-and-start.
Though we lacked a bit of intensity on and off through the game and didn't come close to playing how we know we can, I'll take a win over a really game Barrow 30-12, in those conditions to move closer to a day at Wembley, which this comp is all about ateotd.
