Great Opening Week for Super League XXIX
Mark Twain once said, “The reports of my death appear to be much exaggerated”, and while the critics and doom mongers again heralded the demise of our great game in 2024 it appears from the opening week of Super League that their fears have so far been somewhat misplaced.

Without doubt the Super League XXIX was always going to be a 'little different' with SKY committing to cover all of the matches with some games being broadcast simultaneously, while Super League had its own new streaming service and some games would be shown live to a national audience free to air on the BBC.

I believe this was the tackle that got Amone a 2 match ban. This $hit has gone absolutely bonkers. I'm done with this carp.

Looks like the MRP have made this decision after scrutinising the w/end games. I'm not 100% sure that this was the actual incident, I'm just going off that report. If it was, the ball carrier is more stooped towards Amone on impact.

Think all this will lead to play acting and gamesmanship. As players try to get players yellow carded. We may start seeing the same antics as in football. Am in favour of protecting players and think last season was ok infield head checks etc. but where is the consistency how is this tackle more dangerous than a spear tackle!

Not sure Chris Hill performed a spear tackle, but he did use all his weight to drop him onto the ground. I don't know if it is illegal, but it looks bad. You can break someone's back, but don't tap them on the head.

Leigh got battered in the penalty count and 2 yellow cards. Huddersfield played the ref all night long and take home the points. Not happy with stop/start nature of the game this season. First half lasted nearly 60 minutes.
