Well my opinion for what it's worth.
What a poop show that was.
It was like watching a bunch of deers in headlights lady night. Like they never knew the rules, never played with team mates before.
N.brown, was playing hot potato all night, never did anything with the ball. Neither he or Smith took the ball to the line. Hoy did better than both when he came on.
Okunbor, whilst he tackled pretty well and did have some energy about him, looked slow and turns like a tank. Ligi looked good. Strong carries , good offloading (never a red, but Kendall was vr) Esse esse didn't look too bad, harsh yellow. Going to be a lot of cards this season for sure. Ashworth looked good too. Pele looked decent until his brain fart... he'll be out for 5/6 weeks I reckon. Not much to say on the rest.
Big disruption losing Sutcliffe just before KO, cator minutes in, then the yellow, then the red, then Houghton goes off and fails HIA, then walker off, think he was ok in the end.
All in all,I think it's going to be a LONG season, with many more downs then ups...and I'm not even a fan that's usually negative

Yeah , I heard that last night , It should have been a great night of entertainment from getting to the ground and enjoying the spectacle through to the end of the game . How many would have come back if we had at least give it a go on the pitch . We have a great record of always stuffing the occasion up .

I get the frustration but Pearson has openly said numerous times that the club has debts to clear before we can start spending properly, if extra income like this help him do that quicker I'm fine with that. The sooner that happens the sooner we can get some real quality and hopefully leadership into the first team.

I remember some of the most terrific RL atmospheres in and around Hull games in 06/07 and 16/17 when they were strong contenders. Particularly good memories of the 2007 playoff game against Wigan - yes for the result but mainly for the noise, energy and tension in the ground. Now there's just a passive acceptance of poor standards and its a sad sight. Fans are clearly still passionate about the club and want something to get behind but there's just nothing there.
You can't underestimate the value of an organising halfback. Harry Smith is not a flashy player by any means but he's just as if not more important than French and Field in the way he guides the team. Running fullbacks just don't cut it in the modern game - they need to be playmakers and I'm not sure Jack Walker has that in him. Stick a fork in Danny Houghton - he's done. Obviously it was a bit of a disaster for the overseas forwards - dreadful discipline and outright laziness at times. I thought Ashworth and Martin were very committed and brought some energy but outside of that there were no real positives.
Hull need to give as much game time as possible to their academy players this year. The results aren't too important as this current first team squad won't win enough games to challenge anyway. Hull would be better off preparing for the future and beginning to develop a side that has Hull at its core. Yes there's a duty of care and of course they shouldn't be played in more games than they can handle physically but the fanbase need a reason to get behind the team again - a genuine focus on Hull born youth might give them that.
Good to have a perspective from outside the city of Hull bubble and yes we are light years from that 2007 playoff game which I remember was a very high quality game.

With the quality of the players we have I'm not convinced he or anyone else can do so but at least give him more time.
Granted the quality of players Smith is working with isn't the highest we've had but for me that isn't the issue, its the lack of yet again not seeing any cohesion, organisation or discipline out on the field.
Last night we just looked an absolute mess and as if they'd not had any pre season at all, whilst yes we faced some adversity that just doesn't account or excuse yet another shambles that we saw last night.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

I’m sick of him whinging about the Covid loan, he’s the only owner who’s constantly talking about it.
9000 passes Record sponsorship Record shirt deal £1+ million merchandise Super league money Apparently highest ever corporate turnover last night 20k+ crowd last night
Yet we churn out that squad, it’s simply not good enough.

How much was this covid loan?
The lack of investment is killing us off, no way are we at cap. Never mind not having 3 marquee players.
Who planned our current halfback situation as its shambolic, just not good enough, whoevers decided to throw money at nu brown been out halfback needs sacking
Whats the plan? For me Brown has to go to hooker straight away, with Balmforth as bench backup.
Cators made of biscuits, lets play Staveley at loose forward, who has creativity and good size.
The team jus has so many square pegs in round holes and it shows. We need Trueman back asap, and we need to learn to catch a ball and play with controlled aggression.
Il say it again play Severs or Jebson at second row and let them develop and move Sao/Ashworth back into the props.
Need to blood some youth in the correct positions.
Im intrigued by our accounts, pass and mercandise sales are really good, we hear of record breaking sponsers, how bigs this covid loan?
Is Pearson bleeding us abit and pleading poverty? Starting to wonder
