Unfortunately it would seem, his 'on' moments were too infrequent and insufficient to warrant a decent squad spot. I don't know what kind of money he was on, perhaps this was a deciding factor. The biggest surprise for me is the retaining of Dudson, I thought he would be the first to go after last seasons poor efforts. Yes he may have had off field traumas in his life and I sympathise with that but that doesn't prevent you from running straight and hard and we saw precious little of that. This season he has a lot to prove. I hope he proves us all wrong and turns in a great season. Roll on 2024
The rumour on Duds, is that he was offered a no tie early release, he was alleged to have said to the club, ok, it’s £60k, to which he was basically told to turn up for work on Monday!

There may be an opportunity here:
Salford may lose the Burgess case, a knee-jerk reaction which seemed to be an attempt at reducing the wage bill. If this is the case, we may be able to reduce the payoff to Dudson if Salford take him on. We get Partington in return, and they lower their wage bill little to soften the blow of losing the Burgess case (if they indeed do lose it). This is certainly what I'd be on to if I was in charge of affairs. I'm surprised they can class Burgess' misdemeanour as gross misconduct, and I'm pretty sure he has no history unlike some players.
Here's hoping for a slightly-late Partington in a pear tree.
Salford Sold Croft and Ackers to massively reduce their Salary spends. Unless something goes drastically wrong i can't see this happening. Iwould prefer an out and out prop over Partington, he's a tough kid but not sure he's what we need.
Might be me but it feels like the club are keeping things fairly low key compared to previous pre-seasons. Not as many silly stunts, stories and features. Having said that, I think I miss the drama a little bit!

Absolutely. Was going to mention this myself.
I think Burgess probably has a part in this. I imagine he's trying to dampen the hype and take the pressure off the players, as well as rooting out the perceived 'status' culture that some players seem to take on board when they join, as if they've hit the big time and make silly wage demands,
I'm all for it, but as you say it does leave the off-season a bit short of things to talk about.
