The games afoot wrote:Of course fans can have an opinion but you do seem to be-little posters and come across as a touch arrogant as in I’m right and your wrong. My take on Mackintosh is at beginning of season he was terrible but a spell in reserves,he came back stronger and confident. You mention the Sts game…yes Ritson nearly got him but it wasn’t through diving early, watch mackintosh’s feet,he does the classic wingers step and that’s what causes Ritson to miss, also you haven’t mentioned the Truman try…would our other wingers who you want to try have done what he did to get the ball back in play.End of the day..he was marked as a scapegoat in his 1st season, again in his 2nd season and no doubt this season.I now await a belittling and sarcastic response to this post.

I'd love you to show me where I've belittled the poster, I had a debate with Hull2456 (or whatever his number is), he doesn't seem bothered, no name calling, just asked him to name any slower wingers in SL, which as yet no one is done.

Just because his form improved from his form which was awful doesn't mean he is good enough to help us kick on.

Would Mcintosh get in any side that finished above us?

Im not sure what you want, do you want me to mention everything positive he did last season, I'd say the positives where probably still less than the negatives over the season.

I want us to improve and think it's worth the risk of trying Tindall, Martin or Mitch over Mcintosh as feel all of these have more potential than Mcintosh.

Also I've never said I'm right and have been wrong many many times, what I do try and do us back up my points with either facts examples or ask people a question to back up their argument (such as name worst or slower wingers than Mcintosh)

I think there are a few players who if fit will be in 17 for the Rovers game, I don't think that will or should apply to Mcintosh, these are the players who I expect to be in the 17, the rest is up fir grabs

Walker
?
Sutcliffe
Calos/Scott
?
Hoy
Brown
Ese'ese
Houghton
Sao
Okunbor
Ashworth
?

Pele
?
Scott/Carlos
?

If we're honest, if we want to climb up the table then Mcintosh should be one of the players to make way.

I like him, he's a tryer but I don't think he excells at anything.

If fit, I think we'll line up:

Walker
Tindall
Sutcliffe
Carlos
Mcintosh

Hoy
Brown

Ese'ese
Houghton
Sao
Okunbur
Scott
Cator

Pele
Ashworth
Lane
Smith

When Truman is back, Brown goes to 9 with Houghton/Balmforth and Smith fighting it out for a bench spot.

Maybe it's just me, the backline looks pretty blunt in terms of linbreaks. The front row is improved but the back row needs some work, Okunbur needs to hit the ground running.

Wings and second row will be our downfall this season unfortunately

You could say that about few of our players and that's probably why we are in a mess last few years

Would Houghton get the 9 shirt at any clubs above us ?

Would Trueman get a 6 shirt at any clubs above us ?

Would walker get a 1 shirt at any clubs above us ?

I think wings will be ok, if we take a gamble and not play safe, Warrington went down this route a couple if years ago, put faith in Ashton and Thewlis, whilst not perfect it has worked out and both made the England squad this year I think.

Agree on bsckrow, along with LF a real area of concern.

Taking a gamble with the halfbacks.

We need a bit of luck and hope our new signings, particularly the fringe players turn out better than expected and a couple of young players (like Martin, Staverley, Severs and Balmforth) can make the step up.

Houghton probably not.

Trueman and Walker definitely, both proved there worth last season, Walker was probably Rovers best players after the cup final and just look at our win ratio when Trueman played.
