Ok he’s there to get a bit of conditioning. Fair enough. So it remains no further new signings. Bit disappointing and a bit surprising. Last time we went up we didn’t bring many in but we did bring some key ones Abdul, Smith, Morgan. This time we’ve clearly gone down a different route.

At least last time we weren’t faced with definite relegation. Once Abdul got his move back North sorted out he more or less gave up on us. Pity we couldn’t have persuaded Sammut to stay that extra year….

The IMG ratings do throw up a lot of issues. The one that Derek Beaumont mention with regards to catchment area. Do any of our fans live in Merton? I personally do not know any. I know fans from all over, but within the Borough. No! This has cost us IMG points however as Derek says. There is not much that we can do about it, although our nomadic history has not helped. The way things have worked out, our promotion and poor rating has thrown a spanner into the works for what was supposed to be an easy transition to the 2025 Super League season.

Interesting story going around linking us to Manly hooker Karl Lawton. Must admit I've not seen a massive amount of him but seems to have a decent bit of NRL experience with 80 odd games. Not played much over the last few seasons however. I would assume Dean will be the 13 again next season and I believe Lawton has played some time in the backrow, so perhaps where his longer term future lies given Sam and Bill are already signed up.

Yes sounds interesting. Good to get some extra quality in and if he takes a knock we have three alternatives already signed who can take his place. Davis, Davies and Leyland Jnr.

Never mind a fringe NRL reject hooker, we need quality in the halves and centres. Meadows and Leyland simply not good enough for SL and likewise Grant and Macani, jury out on Bassett. That said I have no idea who has been retained, maybe the Fijian 7 ?
