RS is smart, he has no time for players who don’t perform, ultimately. News that Olpherts has been linked elsewhere, and Kershaw linked with us, says it all.
Don’t think I can remember us having as ruthless a coach as RS when he needs to be. I’m all for a bit of sentiment but my word we needed the broom sweeping through our squad and he has done that.
I still wouldn’t be surprised to see one more change before 2024 kicks off.

Rumours coming out of Australia a few days ago that a GB International could be involved in a swap deal with a current SL International. The only ones that remotely spring to mind are Burgess more likely or Bateman. Maybe Newman to swap with Burgess which imo would leave us very short at centre.

Given Miller is probably reserve stand off with Handley then moving to fullback, he could get a fair few games through that route as well, as he's effectively covering four positions. He's likely to have more opportunities to play for Leeds than most clubs as a reserve.
No other SL would want him as a starter, so he'd be in exactly the same position somewhere else, except maybe get fewer games. Quite possibly ditto for one of the better Championship sides.
If his only other option is to play first team for one season at a poor Championship team, he'll have very little chance to impress anyone. Not to mention playing in front of tiny crowds in a team that gets beaten regularly isn't everyone's cup of tea.
Also Arthur, come on, 50k for 3 years aged 33? That's not happening. He's not Ryan Hall or even Tom Briscoe. All he's got is the contract he's on. Wherever he goes after that its likely a semi-pro gig on far less than 50k or just retiring. The only way that would change is if he resurrects his career Lazarus style, which seems very unlikely wherever he plays. In his position I would definitely hold out for the same money even if I knew Leeds didn't really want me.
Don't get me wrong, he's been a failure at Leeds and as a fan I would prefer someone else in that role for next year. But we don't know if any decent side has actually shown any interest in him being anything other than a reserve, and just because we might want him to leave doesn't mean he's wrong or lacking ambition to think he's better off staying. Making up pretend options for him seems more about people wanting to see him go than the real situation he's in.
Let's hope the Lad doesn't ever see this kind of degradation he's human and been employed by Rohan who is the Messiah remember so unless he gets a better gig it's down to the coach who pulls on the shirt.....end of.

Not sure what you're saying there. The one thing everyone agrees on is that Olpherts was really poor last year. Smith will know that better than anybody. The only questions are whether there's a decent option elsewhere for Olpherts, and what happens if he stays. On a personal level I hope Olpherts can turn it around regardless, as I did with Hooley. The difference so far is that Hooley really only had one bad game, but Olpherts kept making mistakes all season.
Its not impossible for him to change that, as he clearly wasn't that bad at Cas, but unless he manages a complete reset in the off season he looks shot.

Me neither. Just thought I would put it out there. Personally I don`t see us signing anyone else yet . If Olpherts is staying I hope he plays better than last year. And I do think letting both Hooley and Myler go might be a mistake as Handley is 100% not the answer at FB imo.

Myler saying in the YEP that it was 100% his decision to go to York and the club wanted him to stay, seems like there’s no ill feeling at all between the two parties and he’s saying he’s a Rhinos fan for life now.
I di think we might see another incoming before the season starts.

Yep. Says Leeds wanted him to stay, which casts doubt on the notion that he was allowed to go in order to remain cap compliant. I think we do have space, but we're not going to fritter it away on a nothing signing.
