Must have been frustrating for him as well as other than JWH getting injured, the next best scenario for him was one of the halves getting injured and Woody getting moved in there and then when that did happen the move for Woody never came and he was still sat in the stands. Was quite bizzare really.

Woody is one of the most frequently injured players in our squad. We are desperately short of players in the outside backs and fullback. Hope they have a decent replacement lined up.

Problem with Pickersgill was he couldn't play any other position other than full back and Woody's best position by far is fullback. Salty would be perfectly good cover in that position if Woody gets injured - he played there regularly and showed up well a few seasons back, and to be honest I think he's too slow to be a winger anyway!
Surely we have someone lined up to replace Brandon if not we look even more short not just in the outside backs but in the play making options too. Does this now pave the way for the Widdop deal to be announced even if it does i still think we need more reinforcements elsewhere too.

It did take a while for Grix to stop picking Wood or Ingham in the halves and give Pickersgill a go. It may have not been ideal having Woody in the halves while Joe was out injured but for me at that time it was the best way to go.

Yeah it was a no brainer and it looked like we had lucked out in bringing Pickersgill in. Grix been stubborn like he was he refused to make the change though because he didn't think Woody had the right leadership abilities to play that role. When he finally bowed to pressure it turned out that it worked better than any other combination tried.
