Gutted to be honest . Lose out best winger who will only get better. Replace him with a 32 year old. Are we stronger than last season , not so sure. Time will tell.
Does it really matter in grand scheme of things ... Not really as no promotion.

It’s worse than you think Chazz.

Greg Eden has a release clause in case any other club from any other division comes in for him and his best mate is on the tribunal so we’re screwed and bound to lose out again.

Excellent "swap", a proven SL try scorer more than makes up for the loss of Walmsley. Walmsley was toe to toe with Barrow's Ritson a couple of seasons back and Ritson's move to Saints exposed a few flaws and he struggled to hack it. OK, Walmsley will still be in the Championship, but a line could be drawn, and in exchange we've got a PROVEN top class winger so happy with that.

AM I RIGHT? I'M NOT WRONG!

One player in the current squad no one has mentioned is Tibbs. Last year his season was initially disrupted by injury, and then he hardly got a look in, and even then often played out of position. Still only young - if we could get back the 2022 version of Tibbs we'd have a cracking centre. Think a big problem when he came back into the team was a lack of confidence- lets hope Finn can get him firing again.

I think on dry grounds two seasons ago he looked excellent until he picked up an injury and caused defenses no end of trouble. Unfortunatley on grounds that we play on for at least half the season he looks ineffective and I don't think there is much point lying about it, his defense is one of the worst that I have seen in the centre position going a long way back. He is still young though so maybe he can fill out a bit while keeping his speed because there is no doubt with ball in hand he can be a pretty exciting player to watch in the right conditions.

Strange how getting less than a clause that was only worth a few grand at best can pay for the 2 year Eden deal though. :?

No bitterness at all towards the other parties, just hope Walmsley breaks his leg and falls down the steps landing on Powell’s head.

See I knew we would agree eventually.

...well apart from that you don't pay a player in full upfront for a contract and it will just be a bit of a signing fee that won't amount to a right lot and in losing Maizen and Walmsley will come somewhere near to covering Eden's wages. We were so close though. :D

Unfortunate for Tibbs getting that injury so early on in the friendly at Wakefield then as you say never got a settled run of games.

He was on the radar of Smith at Leeds after the 2022 season who like many others regularly checks the Championship for up and coming players.

With all the above in mind imho still a prospect player as opposed to the finished article but with plenty of promise and just another thing to watch and see which way Finn / club goes with the back line.

Ah I see, so now the amount we got for Walmsley was just enough to pay for Eden’s signing on fee which wasn’t a right lot but was still too much for us to get the deal over the line without it, silly me.

Now the deal is done as of today I have’t found out what the exact trigger amount in the contract was as it was classed as a bit too personal to reveal so I didn’t ask further.

Likewise the same with the final fee that the clubs agreed upon as I haven’t spoken to anyone since the deal was done and I don’t think they would say so won’t be asking.

Over the period from when it first started what I have been told from 2 independent sources close to the club is the final figures involved in Walmsley’s transfer that the clubs agreed upon were above the contract trigger amount and that Fax would never had agreed to anything less than that amount without it going to tribunal and if it had done we’re confident they would get no less than the amount recorded on the document.

Away from those at the same time there there were all kinds of rumours going round that Wakefield we’re making all sorts of low offers like 5k or this and that k etc, maybe that's what you were hearing?

Anyway back to what I was told face to face and by text at the end Fax had asked for 40k and Wakefield had offered between 20 to 25k.

Both were obviously trying to get the best deal done per their respective clubs and because there weren’t staggering amounts involved in the differences between the trigger and the 2 clubs valuations to avoid the hassle and disruption of going to tribunal they came to an agreement which was closer to Wakefield’s 20k 25k valuation than Fax 40k.

I’m not going to argue any of the above it’s simply the information I have.

If you have been told something different from the club then
you can decide if you want to share it or not?

I remember when we signed Peter Fox and he was over the hill.
