But where does that leave us in cover? Edgell and Lumb for fullback, and Sinfield in the halves? Then we are back to half a team reshuffle if Frawley and Croft are both out?
Leeds must need the cap space for a big signing. There is no other logical reason to let him go.
Handley can also cover fullback, not my preferred option but it is an option

Full back yes, half back no way. Miller and Sinfield ahead of him at this stage in his career and rightly so.

Does that mean Olpherts on the wing? Momirovski to the wing, Martin to Centre, and bring another backrow in? It all gets too disruptive if we don't have sufficient cover.

We should try and avoid rushing to judgement on this one. We're talking about the departure of a 33 year (34 in May) back up player. This forum is perennially moaning about young players not been given a pathway into the team. Well now Sinfield and Edgell certainly have. Also, if this means the arrival of big prop - Burgess/Sutton, will people complain?

I think this may have come as a surprise as surely we would have tried to retain Hooley who was beginning to look a decent player. Handley as a fullback no not even as a back up.

How often have 1, 6 and 7 all been fit and played in recent years? We can hope that it's the case in 2024 but Myler was a very high quality back up and I'm sure he would have got plenty of game time.
If it's to free up space for a prop that makes sense but it's a risk when you consider what we've got to fall back on in the event of injuries.

I’d guess we must be paying a fair chunk of his wages, so not sure how much cap space this will free up?
Let’s say he was on £100k at Leeds for 2024. No way York will be paying him that to go.
Hope I’m wrong and frees up a decent wedge to get a prop in.
I can understand he wants first team football but I’m surprised he is carrying on at a lower level playing at his age with so many miles on the clock. He must still love playing. Good on him.
Did not really work out in the halves for us but a very good guy to have around and served us very well at full back.

More likely the other way around I'd imagine, we're potentially paying some of his salary to free up cap space.
Anyway, good luck to him. Myler was unfairly maligned at times during his time at Leeds. He was player of the year in his first season and became an excellent full back at the back end. And won a Lance Todd Trophy and a Challenge Cup along the way.
