I do remember a few years ago that Phil Clarke stated that we have too much of our salary cap tied up on a small number of players and that maybe why we have had this problem.
This is dead right. We were wafer thin outside the top 19 or so this year & selectors really did not trust bringing in others. So, for example, Matau'tia played all over the place & I reckon players played when injured. So we all wanted us to sign Williams & we got him but it it must weaken us in our back up.
One or two wanted to bring the youngsters in anyway with the idea that they will improve by playing them but they were miles of super league standard or Wigan Reserves standard. They will get better but we have to be patient.
