I'm not a great fan of having numerous 'versatile players' but if we can have one or two that can cover other positions it may help. We were desperately lacking cover in the halves last season. We could have fallen apart had Connor Robinson or Ben Johnston got injured - look how we had to bring in Jack Potter from Hull KR for one game. It's better to have someone in-house as they know the other players and the planned moves.
We can't underestimate the challenges we will face in the Championship. I agree, it's a hugely competitive league. The quality of the new signings will determine our finishing position, so we must get this right.
I would imagine that most Championship clubs, especially those in the lower half, will be absolutely desperate not to drop into the League One league of death. Whatever happens, we're going to be involved in tough, competitive games week-in, week-out and the squad will be put under much more pressure than they were this season.
Let's hope there's some good news on the signings front soon. With the first Season Ticket deadline coming on 30th November, I would imagine we'll learn quite over the next two or three weeks. We'll probably be 'drip-fed' one piece of news every day or every other day, like they've done in the past.
