Partington is the sort of player opposition fans dislike. He's a bit like Smithies in that respect. We don't have anyone in the pack with any niggle. Maybe we need one.

Can’t just be an irritant though, has to be some ability to go with it. Partington strikes me as someone on that scale of player as being a lot closer to Don Duffy than Ben Westwood.

Yes, totally agree in terms of not just being niggly. Salford fans seem to rate him so will watch this space with interest. As for dissing Mad Dog, that’s as bad as saying Craig Teitzel wasn’t what we expected…….

Not sure I fully agree with that. Someone who does it well can put the opposition off their game and most of the top teams have one, e.g. Smithies, McIlorum, Knowles etc. Not sure McGuire is a good example as we didn't get to see much of the niggle, just stupidity. Agree we don't want a penalty machine like Bentley but we are a bit passive at the moment.
