Good signing
Probably not quite as big or athletic as Nene, but still plenty big and athletic enough, much more natural centre, better Skills, better defender, more intelligent rugby player.
Overall, an upgrade, and considering Nene was one of our better players until he buggerd off, finding an upgrade is a good piece of work by the club.

I don't think it's a fluke. He's a very good player. Just think we need to be careful in our player valuations. I don't think this is another Walters situation. Even with Martin's return to the second row McDonnell deserves a starting spot on this years performances. Competition will be fierce though, as it should be.

Fair enough - I wouldn’t be letting one of the best young players at the club go much longer without tying them down if it were me. We were prepared to extend Bentley for 2 years when he’s barely played more than Fus this year (low bar) and in my humble is simply not as effective as McDonnell. If I was McDonnell I’d be wanting to be recognised after a very good year.

Same. I don’t know if Harry might work better with Handley - Ash is a senior player and maybe might guide him a bit who knows.
Another reason to switch Newman left is because Simpson is coming through there and if Newman gets injured or leaves, we have someone to cover as well as Martin.
Anyway whichever sides they play that is a decent centre partnership for 2024 in theory.

Mommo seems like a decent pro aswell (you don’t play for the teams he has without that) and hopefully won’t disrespect and let his coach and team mates did like Nene.
