Watched the whole game today.
Positives
Apart from one poor early kick which was not set up for him and Gagai slipping his tackle he did little wrong.
He looked calm.
His passing was good when going wide but he got better service at 2nd receiver than he will get at Leeds.
Stepped well to take his try
Spoke to SH Fogarty after an error, looks like he will be a good team mate.
General tackling was sound.
Negatives
He looks pretty slow and frankly older than 28.
Spoke very little but he’s a fill in on that team.
As a result , Fogarty controlled 90% of last tackle plays. Frawley
Was little involved.

He is Mr steady away . To be of any use he will need better ball into him and lots of running threats around him. Although he scored I think Newcastle viewed him as no real threat which helped him. He needs to be told and encouraged to be a big voice at Leeds, probably the biggest voice.

The lad at 7, Fogarty would be a good signing but he ran the show so can’t see
Him leaving NRL.

Good summary thanks.

If Frawley plays out left then he needs a real running threat in the centre alongside him. Not sure Martin fits that bill...

Rhyse Martin is not a Centre, he doesn't have the pace, the awareness, the agility or the handling skills. He's a back rower that can run a nice line off a structured play.

He's been great as a fill in, held his hand up for us, but we can't contemplate giving him the number 4 jersey full time next season if we want to move forward. He needs to stay in the back row.

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

He seems to be playing Newman on the left now. Injury prone as he has been, he's probably our greatest running threat.

Wigan completely exposed him on Saturday - never a centre but Gannon is never a half back - to everyone except Smith who appears to be playing RL Manager!!

Agree, as I have stated several times we are a deeply flawed side ,player’s playing out of position etc etc. Martin is a classic case, we lose the service of a good back row forward as he steps in to the three quarters. He does his best but ultimately he is never a decent half back or Centre. Full credit to him he gets on with the job without moaning.

Agree, unfortunately his petulance is becoming irritating. Teams are starting to laugh at him, smith needs to sort him out.
