If you look at how he played against Warrington at Magic, I think you can certainly see he has the potential to be very good. Just needs to get his body adjusted to the British weather perhaps? Fingers crossed next year he comes out all guns blazing!
Ps it must be so hard to be so incredibly negative ALLLLL of the time!
The season is just about over and you mention one game Hoy played well. surely if you can only find one game in a season when he played well i would say thats disappointing especially as he is a quota player and probably on a very decent salary. As i have said now its likely he will play halfback next season and therefore get his hands on the ball more we may see some of the potential the club saw in him. I guess the next three games will give us an idea

If you look at recent movement of halfbacks in the NRL, it shows the lack of availability and quality of some of the back up halfbacks in the NRL.
The fact that Reynolds got a couple of game, Frawley played so many game, Seizer easily getting a deal, along with Flanagan who wasn't good enough for us, but again gets a new deal. Schneider signing for the best team in the NRL.
I think the club are playing right and not panicking in signing a 7, if there isn't a quota 7 to improve out 17, then we shouldn't just sign one.
I quite like the idea of a 7/9. starts the season at 7 and then when Trueman is back he starts to take over from Houghton as starting hooker. Watson would be the obvious then maybe Brown, the other option would be a one year deal for someone like Cust, thought he looked good in his first season and could offer cover at 7 and 9 for a season and see how he goes.
The other option which I wouldn't be totally against would be to sign Morgan Smith or similar and save the last spot for a backrower or out and out hooker.
Signing Walker and the prospect of Hoy playing 6, does make me feel less worried, but we do need some cover at halfback.
We need a proper 7 not a makeshift one. Trueman might that be that player but he’ll be out until May again. Walker, Hoy and say Morgan Smith is asking for trouble.

What if there isn't one good enough?
Hasn't Smith said Trueman will be back end of Feb, do you know more about his injury than him.
6 months is a very short turnaround for an Achilles injury, that’s before he gets back up to speed again after missing another pre season.
Easier said than done…we can’t just go and pick one off the 7 tree at the bottom of the garden…as for Trueman,I think I would take the word of our medical physios and rehab teams.
