Don't think we've seen enough of Hoy at 6 to make a fair assessment, but with the lack in quality of 7 in both comps you can see the appeal of option 1
It's looking increasingly likely that it'll take more than one off season to sort the squad out. We've probably let more go than we're bringing in as so many were out of contract at the same time and most don't want to accept 1 year deals and we don't want to offer more than that. I do wonder if there is a more long term plan at work here with half an eye on being able to replace internally in 2025. That is a strategy fraught with risk though as there is no guarantee young players step up and how long the fanbases patience with a transitional year will hold up after so many poor seasons is open to question.

Blows my mind that people thought it would take 1 off season to sort the squad out tbh.
Still don't see us as a play off team next season.

No, poor player, had a couple of good games a couple of years ago, be a poor signing, probably the worst defense is SL too. Wakey prefer Gale to him, which says it all.

Fair point, but surely better than the Halifax player, some have mentioned. I liked him, when he got in at Newcastle, he is a good kicker, too, and at 29, he's not a young player and could handle the pressure.

Yeah it was a big ask, but not impossible, given the club's perceived standing and fanbase. Look at Leigh, everyone , on most RL platforms had them bottom two. They're proof that a high turnover of players can change fortunes. They do have to be the right players though.
I do think Brett Hodgson set us back at least two seasons, though and was a very poor appointment, given the amount of money he spent, unwisely.
