On the other hand Balmforth, staveley and Harman/medforth have ripped it up at whatever level they’ve played. Surely they deserve a shot. Especially now our seasons ended.
Reality is he dropped Dwyer and McIntosh but replaced them with other first team players. Is staveley the only academy debutant this season? He only got 10 minutes at the end of a game as well
100% agree, Balmforth and Staverley could definitely have played more this year.
We are getting there slowly, Litten could end up with nearly 20 appearances which is good, he is a year older than the two mentioned, so hopefully next year will be the break through year.
Harman and Medforth only 18 and still eligible for the academy, hopefully at least one of them will debut next year if not this week.
Staveley probably unlucky with his knee injury prevented him with first team opportunities when short on SR's. Having said this, he should certainly be given a game on Friday, Lane on bench to cover.
Balmorth is a more tricky one, even though he's been given an extension I just don't get the impression he is going to be in Tony's plans going forwards.
Think Griffin will be missed. Been a good player for us. But that's his side and as everyone knows always 2 sides to a story . We needed a clear out and as Smith alluded to not all his choices are going to be met with approval by some. We have been shouting out for years for this upheaval.
once a black and white always a black and white COYH
Yet to listen, so in no position to judge. But on face value Smith never saw Griffin in his plans, even with his improvement in form. The hefty ban gave him the opportunity to shift him mid-season. Rightly or wrongly, we want change and Smith to oversee it.
Have to take any perceived rough with the smooth with Tony Smith. I cant imagine anyone telling him to eff off on the training field and continuing at the club. He’s a head strong coach, who can no doubt be belligerent, but he’s what we’ve needed for a long time.
