Posted this on the wrong topic, so apologies for that.#
Truman's cruel luck has changed the landscape, for me, as far as recruitment goes. We have to get two decent halfbacks or we'll end up without any play makers to exploit what looks like being a fearsome pack for next year. It may well be that we look to the lower leagues, as I doubt any of the Aussie halves that haven't been snapped up, will want to make the journey to SL; or massively improve us; we may have to lower expectations in that respect, unless we already have a signing in the bag, unannounced. Hoy at 6 may be good on paper but his injury record is awful, he must be cursing this year and let's hope we can get him fit for the full next season.

If we're considering championship players, if Toulouse don't get promoted, what about having a look at Jake shorrocks? Seems to be having a good season there

I wonder if we will look at Cooper Johns, OOC doubt he will stay at Manly, with their halfback options. Good mates with Hoy and would fit with the style of signing we are looking at.

I doubt we'd be able to prise him away from Aus.

The more I think about Kyle Flanagan, the more I'm coming round to the idea. But again I'm sure he'd pick up a other club

I like Flanagan and I'm confident he would do well over here, the problem is would he do that well that we would be back to square one and need another 7 after 1 season?

I am also warming to the idea; I think it could happen as his stock has lowered considerably , while at The Dogs. He looks all the world to me like a confidence player, I think Smith would be the ideal coach to get him back to the form he showed at The Roosters, which is more than good enough for SL.

Jake Shorrocks is a good shout, got a good pedigree , he was highly rated by a lot of Wigan fans and was going to be their next big thing, so there must be a player in there.

Jack Walker not kept on at Rovers. I liked him when he was here, he's a bit fragile though

In terms of ability, Walker would be the perfect back up FB, ideal replacement for Shaul. The problems are A) His injury record and B) he will probably opt for somewhere with more guaranteed game time, which in his defence he is probably on the cusp of being too good to play second fiddle.

Jake Shorrocks isn't good enough for Hull (or Super League in all likelihood). He did have a bit of hype around him in his academy days but a couple of serious injuries really affected his pace and agility and sadly never made an impact at first team level as a result.

In terms of Wigan options, I wouldn't take the risk on Cade Cust as he's been a shadow of himself since the arm injury in the cup final last year. Ryan Hampshire isn't a bad shout as a utility - would prefer us to keep him as a back up but it looks like he may be moving on.

High quality academy spine players are worth their weight in gold - not many about seemingly but if you can bring one or two through you're in a much better position aka Saints with Welsby, Dodd and Lomax. I'm sure Wigan will be hoping to keep hold of Field and French at least until Jack Farrimond comes through. No guarantees but an absolutely outstanding academy player who's one of the best prospects of the last 10-15 years.

I think Walker would get plenty of game time next season with Hoy looking likely to be moving to 6 and Litten not yet ready for week to week super league.
