Same old, same old today. That was just a really low quality game of rugby league, Widnes were dire and we were worse. Capable of winning all 5 but fell at the first hurdle. Again if we can manage to win all our remaining games then we will probably still make the playoffs and we know the team can get up for big games but anyone feeling confident of us winning 4/4?

Also what is it with the experiment of playing McComb in the back row? We are light enough as it is without having to play a winger in that spot and once again we came up against a pack that dominated ours for most of the game.

Considering it was two teams fighting to get into the playoffs apart from the result what we watched today was a very poor quality game with little on a positive note to say about it so I won’t even try.
Rare that I'm looking forward to end of a season but that was dire. Sutcliffe must presumably be a decent second row, and on today's showing we need one, but he was not a centre. Total lack of understanding with Walmsley and we gift 3 pathetically straightforward identical tries. Thought Crooks had by far his best game, and O'brien was a breath of fresh air when he came on. Keyes was largely ineffective, although hardly surprising after such a long lay off. There is the core of a really good championship team there, especially if they can sign up O'brien for next year but today, for such an important game, it was totally deflating.
Really poor performance exasperated by some low iq plays and the usual brain farts . With dewsburys season finished I wonder if Finn will come in to assist Grix for the final 4 games, I’d like him to be in the dressing room to see first hand what’s going on .
Stupid errors yet again led to two of their tries. Some feeble attempts at tackling too. Walmsey and Sutcliffe so obviously not on the same wavelength. In fact Walmsley was poor throughout. So many of the squad not performing and I think Finn will have to move people on and freshen up the team over the next two years. Only three to come out of the game with any credit were Cakcott, Lannon and O`Brien. I cannot remember last time I left before the end of the game.

I have seen a few people mention this and I really hope that it does not happen, our season is pretty much done and it now needs to be a clean break and let the players have a break as well and then Finn take over for pre-season. Hopefully Finn ges some say in any late recruitment but I fear most is already done now so it could be another season before Finn gets to put a true stamp on the team and with the abysmal league showing it has to be debatable if there is even any money in the kitty for more players.

I think Richard durgan mentioned in one interview there was still a bit of room for recruitment. If we can keep obrien that’ll be a good start , the remaining recruitment will be an indication of where we see ourselves and our budget . The recruitment once the season has started as been pretty good , lannon , crooks , pickersgill, obrien, plus Douglas for next year , if it continues in this vein then we’ll have a strong squad for next year . We can’t be that skint we’ve bought an electronic scoreboard , lol

The effort was there, they bust a gut to get over the line near the end, but the execution was poor, like a rudderless ship. Eg trying to acrobat in the corner on the first tackle from a scrum 10 yards from the Widnes line. I thought we had them at half time, it just needed composure which just wasn't there in the 2nd half, just headless chicken stuff with the biggest threat coming from darts by AOB at the PTBs. All very frustrating against a very ordinary Widnes who had no stand out quality.
The irony about the defeat is that Widnes have now got a sniff of the top 6 and could do us a favour by beating Batley (whose form is worse than ours - must be the 1895 cup hangover!) and London in the next couple of weeks. All is not lost.
Grix didn't seem to hang around after the match ...... he was in the Vocation in town within an hour of the final hooter, not that it means much I suppose. Just saying.

I was sat near Grix and his gesticulations mimicked mine , head in hands , head shaking etc , that first tackle play was one of the dumbest things I’ve seen , tbf I think the team has drove him to drink , I know if I’d have been coaching them this season I’d have been sat in poundlands doorway drinking whisky from a brown paper bag by now.
