I honestly don't see how it's more prone to manipulation than the current scoring system or the more comple one you suggest. Or perhaps I'm just missing your point.
It's all academic anyway as the current GP system appears here to stay soI'll just have to lump it.
At the risk of thread drift.....the CC cricket system is as follows:
There are 5 first innings batting pts available, scored at 250+,300+,350+,400+ and 450+ runs.
There also 3 first innings bowling points on offer, scored at 3+,6+ and 9+ wickets taken.
The rest of the scoring is actually more confusing than the bonus points. It's exceedingly cricket.
I’d just be rehashing what I’ve already said, if I carried on. I probably get more upset about inconsistencies and imprecision than most people. I was more offended about the technicality that allowed Morgan Knowles to play in the GF last year being technically incorrect than by him being allowed to play.
Given that nobody has ever really cared about the LLS and relegation is about to disappear it is all pretty low stakes, in fairness. I just remember the agonies of trying to find out what the second tiebreak was after points difference in the 2018 middle 8s. When something important is on the line, little potential exploits become a big deal and respecting the integrity of the game seems naive.
They (to my relief) sacked off 2+1 GP after it briefly being a thing in the Championship before COVID ended their 2020 season. I can’t see them bringing it back - but you never, so I intend to be vigilant!
