I don't agree, think my post is very relevant, first of all Schneider is not OOC (who I mentioned) and could be an option for us and them signing May, confirms he is available. Also, although very unlikely it could open up for Lewis to be become available who we have been linked with on social media.
Lastly you and Weaver aren't mods, if Chris isn't happy with my post I'm sure he will message me, but think my post was relevant to Hull, as there are a couple of players that may be of interest to us.
Are we not allowed to talk about contracted players now, can we only talk about players OOC?

It's the right decision based on our needs and his form this year, just hope we bring Balmforth into the first team next year and use him as our bench hooker, reduce Houghton games and time on the field making him more effective like this year.
I don't see a better option than Houghton as starting hooker with what's available and no quota spots, backrow and halfback are the key.
I would tend to agree that based on the form Houghton is showing under Smith and our needs elsewhere then giving Houghton a 1 year deal is a no brainer. This gives us the experienced 9 we need but also gives us time to find the right replacement, as currently the only non quota 9 I would see as good replacement would be Ackers which is unlikely to happen. If we are going to go with Houghton then surely its time we started seeing Balmforth getting the nod ahead of Dwyer from now on if that's how TS sees next season.
Would say that the priorities are a quality SH and SR so if the club and Houghton agree to one more year then that helps massively in focusing on the priority instead of possibly diluting these key areas.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Think Ackers and Litten are pipe dreams unfortunately, think both clubs would want 6 figure fees (when you look at Dupree) and we won't pay that.
Totally agree about Balmforth, but for whatever reason, Smith thinks we are better with Dywer and him at Newcastle, maybe wants another pre-season with him and him getting game time in a tough competition will do him good?

A whole lot of stuff on here is about hull kr though so your imaginary list of players you’re going to sign from us Halton SKD Wood Ryan Lewis Litten to name afew you want to continuously talk about without receiving a alternative view or be unchallenged?

Fwiw, as long as your contribution isn't just sniping then the more the merrier. The vast majority of this thread is just idle speculation including the stuff on HKR players so don't take it too seriously.

Such a cruel way to lose but remember time is a great healer.
Take care mate and once again I'm sorry for your loss.
Sorry I missed this,,, Thanks for your concern was a crap way to lose but ultimately we probably lost it in the half back position with theirs being more dominant then ours and I’m glad the club have addressed that by bringing in a new half

100% this. I'll be pleased if Houghton had another season but we can't have Balmforth as a bench hooker if we don't know if he's capable yet.
Ideally we sign another hooker to I/C with Houghton with Balmforth waiting in the wings and take over from Houghton when he retires.
As you say finding one will be a problem.
I think it was Bonaire who suggested McShane for a season if Cas get relegated. I don't think this is the worst idea in the world but I can't see it happening.

After some fairly recent posts (the two posts quoted above highlight the matter) I'd like to try and add a bit of clarity.
This topic thread was put up way back in March this year and as the Hull FC boards is one of the most active and used on RLFans it's no surprise that is has amassed so many pages especially with the number of players we had OOC this season. There has in the main been valid wide and varied debate and discussion on this subject and the occasional thread drift that happens from time to time which is only natural on such a topic. There has been some intentional attempts to derail the thread which has and will continue to be dealt with not just on this thread but across the Hull FC board.
A post like Dave K's mentioning players from another team is still relevant to this thread based on their respective positions and Hull FC's requirement for players who play that position, in a similar way that I have myself mentioned Salford and Ackers etc.
Many members of this board that offer great thought & debate were getting fed up of the constant intentional derailments etc (which hadn't been helped with our poor form and the improvement in our neighbours club) so I put my hand up to be a mod to help clean up the board and make it enjoyable for all again.
If we were to have a real hardline on thread content for anything that is not directly Hull FC then that wouldn't be conducive to any sort of debate or discussion and it would be a pretty sterile forum. Personally think the Hull FC board on RLFans is one of the best due to the members and their input which has enabled it to run without the need for a vice like grip on posts/content and long may that continue, though action will be and has been taken when needed.
Finally its highly unlikely it will ever have a thread devoted to an arch rival

McShane hasn’t been very good this year by all accounts and would have to transition into a new side. I’d be more inclined to stick with Houghton for another year on performance, cap management and sentiment.
We’ve seen short 1 year deals fail with Gale & Dwyer, why add McShane to the list.
And as for people crying about Dave mentioning rovers players and idle speculation.
1. Rovers currently have an abundance of half backs 2. Players often don’t like moving to hull so logistically signing from HKR is easier. 3. They’re our biggest rivals so of course they’re going to be mentioned 4. It’s a fan forum, it’s kinda built from Idle speculation
The bad news is alick doesn’t have social media so I don’t think there will be any clues until our quota back rower is announced
