I agree with the Dufty rocks and diamonds analogy, but he is the sort of player I want to see when he's on it.
I also think that being at fullback all your mistakes are there for all to see, but you don't see the other parts to his play its often been his cut out passes that have led to tries like the last one at Catalans.
There are certain players that can give you the 1%s that can win a game but the team shifts to accommodate them like Hurrell at Saints, Field at Wigan (who is a faster Dufty but can't pass). I think that the right edge defence needs sorting before anything else. I see Thewlis will be the future at fullback but another season on the wing will give him confidence and give him chance to mature a bit more physically will do him the world of good before people slaughter him for a dropped ball.

Anyone would think that behind their sneering is a little flicker of fear.

I’d feel a lot better after hearing that as Wire fan, Graham tells it like it is.

He lost the ball vs Catalans, they broke away, and he didn't bother chasing back. He was the last player back in the defensive line. He just threw his toys out of the pram and couldn't be bothered.

im with you on this one.

The guy is a born winner. The very least we should be doing is giving him a chance and all getting behind him.

People keep saying 'born winner' but what did he, or his teams win across his career?

that's a pretty narrow minded view when looking at a RL player to be honest.

Its the will to win and the drive to be the best.

It's not a medal count... he went to the NRL as a kid, won plenty of accolades... more than any other British player.

he hasn't won the challenge cup though... i will give you that one.. or the world cup... actually yea your right...what a loser

That's all well and good personally for him, but it clearly didn't translate all that well outside of his own performances. Wise crack all you want, but if he's as much as born winner and leader of men as people say, it simply hasn't translated through the teams he has played for nor coached overall. He hardly led a dynasty at Souths did he? And nobody as yet has an answer to that. If he couldn't get his teammates to win consistently then I can't see it changing as a coach.

Dear me fella - what have you got against him - did he p!ss on your chips or something?

Souths won the 2014 premiership and he was Clive Churchill medallist in the final - that's 'leader of men' stuff for me. I've watched plenty of games where he's pulled out the big hits to fire his team up when they seemed flat.

As for coaching - he's never been head coach so it's a bit of a stretch to hold that against him.

All ths stuff I'm hearing that he's doing behind the scenes - before he even takes over - is exactly what I want to hear.

Quite. And if that was all he'd done in his career, it'd be more than 99.99% of all rugby league players have done.
