Yeh, disappointing.
Think he wants another crack at his first and obviously feels he good enough to challenge for a starting spot.
Think the family thing is the biggest thing though.
It's a risk, but based on his form thos season, he would easily get a big SL contract in 2025 if things don't work out for him.
Looking at the Clifford situation he may well feel he is a better and more mature player for the experience of coming to SL and doing what he has done at Hull in terms of leading the team. He no doubt wants another shot at cracking the NRL and feels he can, I certainly don't blame him for that as its something he may regret not doing especially as its only a one year deal, he's obviously backing himself.
I also think family & being back home has been a big factor too in his decision.
I think its fair to suggest that even after a year if it hasn't worked out for him in the NRL he would certainly get a place in the SL as a fall back if needed.
Question is does this have any impact on the replacement of Clifford ie do we look at a replacing him with a player on a longer term deal or do we look at bringing a player in for 2024 with a view to seeing if Clifford would be an option for 2025?
