Why not make the decision after the Wigan CC game and be decisive.
Again if we have limited company board members talking to our resident taxi driver and fog horn about Powell's future it is so unprofessional it's untrue.
According to the Stuart Middleton interview in the guardian. The board was allowing Powell the chance to turn things round.

Apart from Holbrook and Wane, I can't think of any other stand out potential candidates. If both said no, then I can't think of any better realistic options.

Yes, it`s a mine field, with a lot of snipers in the long grass too.
FWIW, I wanted us to appoint Watson from Salford and not Powell, before Huddersfield beat us to the punch, but his tenure there has been underwhelming, and they threw away last years Challenge Cup Final with his negative tactics, so what do I know???

There’s a pool of assistant coaches in the NRL who would be interested IMO. If Holbrook and Wane aren’t interested then we need to unearth the next Maguire, Holbrook, Woolf etc. We should be aiming higher than a bloke who’s biggest achievement is winning the championship with Leigh.

Rubber Duckie, he could fill the team with props, bring his mates John Kear to assist and Eddie Battye to train all the props
Justin Morgan, Danny Ward are possibilities........but would they be ideal.....who knows. It's seems so obvious we are gonna go all out to get Holbrook, even though last year and this year with Gold coast have been similar to Powell here.. Doesn't instill confidence in him. Also would he want to uproot his family and move back to the UK, i doubt it, but if nobody bites in Aus he might have no choice. But does that scream of desperation rather than actual desire to come here?
