On odds alone we aren't going up...there are 4 teams playing for 2nd spot and another playing for the top 6...probably North Wales.
And all those sides are roughly equal that are playing for 2nd....
I suspect we will get done at Worky and even get done at North Wales...having to play away to somebody in the play-offs again.
It don't look good...
But of course we can do it....I think it unlikely....
Time will tell...

They are trawling out statistics now to "prove" he's a great coach :)

I presume this is on Facebook is it, Steve?

I've dug out a few stats, taken from: https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/rugby/rugby-league/rfl-championship-1/1586#12604

Champions v Dons
Numbers shown below are: Games played, Won, Drawn, Lost and Points Diff

Champions:
2017 Toronto: 15, 15, 0, 0, +759
2018 York: 26, 24, 0, 2, +822
2019 Whitehaven: 20, 15, 2, 3, +299
2021 Barrow: 17, 13, 1, 3, +321
2022 Keighley: 20, 20, 0, 0, +795
Total: 98, Win 87 (88%), Drawn 3, Lost 8, Points Diff +2,996

Dons:
2017: 15, 9, 2, 4, +122
2018: 26, 19, 0, 7, +461
2019: 20, 12, 0, 8 +255
2021: 17, 9, 3, 5, +80
2022: 20, 15, 0, 5, +286
Total: 98, Win 64 (65%), Drawn 5, Lost 29, Points Diff +1,204

The league champions have won 88% of their matches played. We’ve won 65%.

It's interesting to note that none of the last five champions have lost more than 3 games in the season. Dewsbury are likely to achieve this too.

They can twist things, butter it up or just continue to wear the rose tinted glasses facts are facts and he's 6 seasons in the bottom division with zero promotions! The bloke couldn't motivate me to spend a pound in a strip joint but is obviously ideal for the club as he won't break the bank and comes across as the perfect yes man. The cult like brown noses on fleecebook simply don't realise they are equally to blame as much as the hierarchy for their constant adoration and happy clapping with everything club doncaster do!

Yes DM his stats look great without context and with stats (as I am sure you know being a Stat man) context is everything. Do you mind if I "borrow" your workings out and post them on Fleecebook?

Our win rate is poor in comparison to promoted teams and our points diff is terrible in comparison.

K&C Yes they are blind sheep - we should be "happy" to have a club - Carl is Mr Doncaster apparently and we have a coach for who the phrase "I've seen more life in a tramps vest" is an understatement.

Feel free to use the stats, Steve. It might be worth just clicking the link to double check what I've written. I'm assuming the stats at the website are correct.

You're right, context is everything. The context that really matters is how we perform in comparison to the best team in the league, not the average team.

Interesting we've only lost three games this season - which is less than in each of the previous five seasons - admittedly with some tough matches still to come. Technically, it could be said we're 'improving' but compared to what the best team in the league achieves, we're still some way off that level.

I would agree DM were not at the level of "outright promotion winners" which was the mission statement from the get go in that regard we have already failed to meet objectives but that said the objectives were quickly recanted and reshuffled to promotion via the playoffs is "ok" to.

In a 20 game season if a club lost two of their 10 home games and every other away game ...the coach would have a record of 65%.
That is a good steady performance over the season....perfectly achievable though for a good side.
Horne posts stats of clubs finishing 3rd or 4th overall....and so it has proved....also-rans.
Close also-rans though, but nobody remembers them....unless it's us.

They didn't like it DM :) Those clubs that went up all went bust apparently so we cannot compare against them.....you cannot win with some people and their sycophantic ways.
