You could have the best pack in the world but if you have players not dealing with very ordinary kicks, falling asleep in defence and trying ridiculous offloads on your own tryline it is always going to be a tough night.
We had enough quality out there to get a result last night but we played dumb rugby and slipped back into old habits of trying to take shortcuts against a determined Widnes side. Just one of those really frustrating nights where you'd back any side in the Championship to beat us playing like that.
Results like that make top 4 aims look very unrealistic now, we are fighting to stay in the top 6 now instead.

Despite this being an unpredictable league and almost everyone being able to beat anyone on their day it's clear that we don't yet have the consistency to be a serious top four team, never mind anything else. The old faults of overplaying, making errors, compounding them with penalties and then overplaying to make up for it causing everything over again reared its head again.
"If you start listening to the fans it won't be long before you're sitting with them," - Wayne Bennett.
If we'd scored again at 12-6 I have no doubt we would have cut loose. The sheer effort that took to lose that game is staggering. It needed sustained brainfarts to achieve.
Deja vu from the York game where it's took some effort for us to lose the game. As Greenwood said, don't think we went more than 3 minutes without doing something ridiculous.
I know it's hard to single players out from that performance, but was really disappointed with Foster. He was constantly struggling to get back in the line and looked to be blowing all game. Falling off tackles including one where he'd just come back on.
The pack of a few weeks ago would have matched the Widnes 6. Outcome would have been different. The forwards gave 100% but outsized. The club knows what's needed.

Spot on.
Weak down the middle and addition to all the errors and we had no chance. An of the other play off teams would have put 60 on us. It was only the fact Widnes are so poor that we remained in the game for so long.
Rumour has it we could lose Lawford. Superleague clubs showing interest. Let's try and keep this one. We don't want another Wilson Trueman, Flanagan Jr scenario.
