I imagine Roberts would have come on at centre, with Martin moving into the pack or Johnson off, Myler 6, Handley 1, Macdonald to the wing.
Sometimes when your defensive edges are working well as a unit it is risky to make these changes, then going down to 12 players would effect this too. Im sure they had a plan to bring him on but sometimes it just isnt worth it.

Rohan did mention this in the post game team talk (on the behind the scenes thing) he singled him out for praise for being patient and understanding as he says it's difficult sitting there and not getting on the field.

Sometimes it isn't about what will happen but what might do. Both 2nd rowers play 80. Roberts covers more risk of injury than Ruan would.
