Surely it won't be long before the stadium is given new (long overdue) naming rights.

Whether that be the MD Stadium or a company name it's extra revenue that stupidly has never been sought for.

The pop up stands and the Brewdog bar etc had to be removed for other reasons
Nothing to do with Danson/Stadium ownership etc.

Let's say people went ahead and didn't do things to Stadium rules and specifications like they should. They had to be removed BEFORE any takeover was agreed

Thanks for clearing that up, Jukes. :thumb:

I must admit initially I was a little surprised with joint ownership message because legally Danson doesn’t own the rugby club and I was unsure how the rugby could gain ownership of an asset belonging to another legal entity without some form of cash and/or shares exchange.
Maybe someone with a better legal understanding than myself could advise/explain how this would actioned i.e. the joint ownership of the ground?

Exactly but it's on the way guessing most know what's happening and that's a to quick on the draw slip up.

I was told this today.
Also told he will have bought the rest of the shares by the end of the year and things all Rugby related will improve as the Tics no longer have any power to dictate.

Loving it at the min.

I did know that 2 weeks ago there were stadium/latics employees still trying to exercise the previous regimes practices on us, and a quiet word was had and it was sorted.
I'm reluctant to say too much, because I personally dont want to get into the back & forth of who owns what, my dad's bigger than your dad
Let's just say things are working on a lot more of an even keel
Latics officials will need to get their heads round this, and their fans, I think a large proportion of the fans are realistic enough to understand that the term that is being used since the takeover I.e. "sustainability" is something that we (Wigan rugby) have been doing since 2007, whilst Latics haven't as they were under the Whelan umbrella until 2018, and then the gigantic mess of Chinese then Bahrani ownership for the last 5 years who didn't realise the cost of Not living Sustainably and subsequently didn't want to.

I still see posts now from Latics fans who think that Dansons purchase "Must be" because he's a billionaire who wants to throw hundreds of millions at them.
My take (albeit I can't prove it although I have had conversations with people involved in the processes of the takeover) is that he stepped in as no-one else did, and he's agreed to run Latics Sustainably which, is far far harder in football than in rugby. Losses of 1m a year in rugby and Wigan still are at the top and most people are happy
Latics income plus 1million a year and its league 2 at best etc. On average (I get they could perform well and improve etc. But realistically the budget for income plus 1million a year would have them fighting mod table league 2 financially wise).

They lost 10million ineague 1 to win it
They'll lose approx 15million staying in the championship

Of Dansons sustainability plan is to give them 10/15million a year to achieve that then fair enough
I think it will be the former, and work within that Sustainable budget plan

The legal ownership may or may not change, but the narrative as Jukesays mentions will certainly change and we'll no longer be treated as second class citizens.

The RP fanzone question is a good one. I'd still prefer to go over there than go back to the south stand. Although I do like Whelans. Quite enjoyable in there after Latics games.

Not really bothered if the hardcore Latics fans reckon they're top dogs re. the stadium, we only need it once every two years on GF and if we get a home cup/play-off fixture, we've worked more or less successfully around the fixture lists for twenty odd years so there should be even less of an issue now

I can back this up with the pop up stands.

Let's just say don't expect them to be back until next season and what replaces them will be a more suitable, up to standard and permanent structure.

And bloody hell does it need it, missed nearly a quarter of the game last night just queing.

Some of the knuckledraggers even oppose a joint venture to promote mental health FFS. Check the 2nd post out here. I'm embarrassed for the bloke. Thank god for the sane fans like KDZ who are realists.
