Apparently because Mata'utia finishes in front of where the ball is caught. No mention of the number of steps he took to get there, where the ball was thrown from and caught or the angle it came out of his hands. To be fair if he'd carried on running for another 30 mins he could have stood on a housing estate in Platt Bridge and the pass would have been miles backwards!

Not quite sure they've understood the momentum rule over in Warrington.

It was forward but iv seen worse not given, the actual route it travels doesn’t mean too much with momentum but it comes forward out of his hands imo.

It was forward but I’ve seen them given and had it been, it would’ve been a travesty. After watching the game back, I’d hadn’t realised how dominant we were throughout. I think that sinking feeling you get with 12 men tricked me in to thinking we’d not been reasonably comfortable all day.

Yeah it looks better on replay, doesn't it? What was clear was that we were a team with a plan after the red card, and Wire had no composure and no plan.

Forward pass is a tricky rule, to simplify it its looking at the passers hand "position" and the motion as the pass is released. At the time, my reaction was that the pass was OK as camera angle was behind the passer. From side and front on the passer threw the ball forward ie it came out of the hand forward. Just looking at pitch lines doesn't tell the full story as the ball can move forward relative to the ground and not be a forward pass due to the motion of the passer. Simples!

On this occasion the lines on the grass did show it forward as passer wasn't running forward at pace negating any momentum. I even think he realised and moved forward to try to create the illusion after he passed, the real debate should be how poor that bit of play was. Likes been said though it was the right call and an easy one, they should get these right even though not always. Wigan deserved the win to have lost it to a forward pass that wasn't pulled would have been harsh.

Yeh, it was the unnecessary "double-pump" that caused it to leave the hands in a forward direction - mightily relieved I was too :)
